DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, responsible for initiating a high volume of outgoing subawards and submitting subaward invoices for payment. Acts as a liaison between the department and other entities including vendors, subaward sites, OCGA, SPF, IPPS, recharge facilities across campus, and other central campus departments.

Provides fiscal and administrative support to the department's fund managers by performing a variety of fiscal duties including reconciling expense transactions, reviewing financial reports, processing cost transfers, analyzing and clearing purchase order commitments, and maintaining fiscal backup files.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to manage multiple and/or diverse responsibilities concurrently, including organizing work, setting and maintaining priorities, meeting deadlines, and meeting quality and quantity standards. Flexibility in dealing with people and competing demands. Ability to work with frequent interruptions. ability to make well-reasoned decisions based on policies, procedures, and excellent personal judgment.

  • Strong customer service orientation: well-developed interpersonal skills including tact, diplomacy and flexibility. Ability to communicate effectively one-on-one or in group settings, taking into account differences in social, cultural, professional, and educational backgrounds.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills to successfully communicate effectively with students, staff, and academic employees with diverse personalities with different expectations. Proven ability to compose documents using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation.

  • Demonstrated skill to independently research, interpret, and apply policies and procedures for problem resolution with consultation from central offices when appropriate. Demonstrated creativity and initiative in identifying, responding to, and resolving problems in a professional manner.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the importance of ensuring an equitable, inclusive, and diverse working environment, with the ability to work as a part of a diverse and collaborative team. Demonstrated competency and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

  • Ability to use electronic filing systems and accurately organize large volumes of material for easy access.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform a variety of accurate financial calculations using basic arithmetic functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, ratios, etc.

  • Experience reconciling ledgers and researching expenditures.

  • Experience working in an academic research environment.

  • In-depth knowledge of computer environments, including a variety of standard business-related software such as MS Office, Adobe products, G Suite, and internet browsers. Experience using web-based applications, with the ability and willingness to increase skills as needed to meet the business demands and keep up to date with updates to online systems. Ability to prepare original and computerized reports, charts, tables, graphs, and other material.

  • Ability to initiate subaward agreements, including reviewing, processing, and tracking subaward documents and payments to ensure completeness and accuracy.

  • Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet software (e.g., Excel, Google Sheets) in financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.

  • Ability to manage a high volume of transactions.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • This position is eligible for a flexible work arrangement, which could include a non-standard work schedule, and/or the ability to work off-site part of the time. The employee shall be available full-time during assigned work hours (specific hours to be discussed with supervisor).

  • Job offer is contingent upon satisfactory clearance based on Background Check results.

  • Overtime and weekends may be required.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $40,700 - $81,850 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $19.49 - $39.20

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
