Position Summary:
The Division of Finance and Administration (DFA) provides services and support to over 50,000 students, faculty, and staff with the mission of advancing UCI’s brilliant future and the vision of becoming world-class campus partners. DFA serves the university as planning partners, problem solvers, and solution providers—striving to make it as easy as possible for people to get the services they need, when they need them.
Works on training programs and needs assessments that are of moderate scope and complexity. Uses professional enterprise risk management and training concepts in the completion of assignments. Heavy focus on Emergency Operations Centers function and Zone Crew programs for the campus. Works on casualty, property, employee injury, and loss prevention programs and services where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Applies organization policies, procedures and programs to address training needs among various functions and departments. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate actions.

Required:
3 or more years in a related field or combination of education and experience Completion of FEMA Independent Study courses IS-100.c Introduction to the Incident Command System, IS-200.c Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response, IS-700.b Introduction to the National Incident Management System, and IS-800.c National Incident Response Framework, an Introduction required
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Must have or acquire within 6 months of appointment CERT instructor certification Must have or acquire within 6 months of appointment Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program (HSEEP) certification Certification as an Emergency Management specialist through local, state, and/or federal entities preferred
Working knowledge of functional area and understanding of how emergency management / emergency preparedness training and exercise may impact the organization. Working knowledge of delivering emergency preparedness training and exercise programs Familiar with current emergency preparedness training and exercise programs and trends. Good skills in delivering training programs. Good analytical skills to understand how business needs can be addressed through the design and delivery of emergency preparedness training and exercise programs. Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and good presentation skills. Working knowledge of organizational policies and procedures. Working knowledge of adult learning theories and education methodologies. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (spreadsheet, word processing, presentations, database), Extensive experience utilizing PowerPoint Strong attention to detail with the ability to troubleshoot and pursue problems to satisfactory resolution Strong ability to multitask, organize and manage assigned projects, conduct research, prepare written reports and make oral presentations
Preferred:
  • Working knowledge of conducting needs assessment and development of emergency preparedness training and exercise calendars.
  • Experience with Sharepoint and Google Forms platforms as well as Emergency Operations Center platforms and Mass Notification systems
Special Conditions Required:
  • Must be willing to attend training both locally and out-of-state
  • Must be available to work early mornings, evenings, and/or weekends as necessary and respond in the event of an emergency
  • Must have a valid CA driver’s license and participate in the DMV pull-notice program
  • Must be able to wear PPE if necessary
