Davis patients also have periodic on-site access to UC Davis Medical Center specialists in a range of oft-used medical specialties, such as behavioral health, cardiovascular care, gastroenterology, pulmonology, rheumatology and general surgery. As part of a world-class university and the region's only academic health system, our Davis physicians work to apply the latest knowledge to solve health problems and can offer access to new therapies and advanced technologies when needed.
A second clinic location in the Davis region is the Davis Campus Clinic. This community clinic is housed right on the Davis Campus and provides easy access to primary care for the Davis Campus faculty and staff.

Responsibilities
This position will primarily support the referral and authorization activities for the Davis Clinic and the Davis Campus Clinic.
The Patient Services Representative 3 (MOSC 3) is responsible for sustaining an environment of intrinsic goodwill for the practice while providing optimum services to patients. This position requires the skills and ability to manage the level of responsibility and accountability necessary to provide specialized duties for the department/clinical team for which it is assigned.
This position may also perform front office duties consistent with that of Patient Services Representative 2 (MOSC 2), per operational needs.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience in practices and protocols related to medical office procedures, including but not limited to medical terminology, appointments, medical records, insurance verification, cashiering, billing, etc.
  • Knowledge of health care insurance systems, which may include Medi-Cal, MediCare, HMO, PPO, fee-for-service, county-funded coverage, and workers’ compensation, sufficient to properly obtain and track authorizations, appoint patients, make referrals for consults, diagnostics, and ancillary services, coordinate hospital services, complete and submit billing documentation, and explain provisions and requirements to patients.
  • Knowledge of ICD-9/10, CPT, and HCPCS coding guidelines sufficient to accurately identify services performed, including diagnoses, procedures, and supplies.
  • PC proficiency in computer system applications (such as MS Office Suite, cloud-based applications, etc).
Special Requirements
  • Must be willing to work variable days (including weekends), hours, and locations as required to meet the business needs of the practice.
  • This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
