The Ambulatory Care Division serves Sacramento, Yolo, and Placer counties providing a full complement of facilities and services including primary and specialty care hospital-based teaching clinics, community clinics, and research clinics. The Division is committed to maintaining a fully integrated Academic Health Center contributing to excellence in patient care, and enhancement of educational and research initiatives.

The Per Diem Medical Assistant 2 (MA 2) is responsible for sustaining an environment of intrinsic goodwill for the practice while providing optimum services to patients. The Per Diem MA 2 provides non-licensed medical support to medical care providers as a medical assistant for the department/clinical team for which it is assigned. As a Per Diem MA 2, the incumbent will be based in the Ambulatory Care Float Pool and will be assigned on an as-needed basis to any hospital-based or PCN-based location to work various shifts for various lengths of time. The Per Diem MA 2 is required to provide a minimum of 48 hours of availability (6 shifts) per four-week schedule period. At least 40 hours (5 shifts) of availability is required Monday – Friday, and 8 hours (1 shift) is required on a Saturday or Sunday per four-week schedule period. The Per Diem MA 2 will be expected to competently perform medical assisting duties for patients of all ages in all primary care and specialty locations. Required to monitor provider(s) schedules, as assigned, to maintain optimum appointment availability and efficient daily workflow.

• Applicants are encouraged to upload their license and certification if required of the position.
• Minimum two (2) years of recent Medical Assistant experience in a similar setting.
• Must have a Certificate of Completion from a medical assistant training program.
• Current American Heart Association CPR certification.
• To administer injections, must have written evidence of validation for training and competency in medication administration by injection and skin testing.
• Must pass UCDHS Pharmacology verification exams if needed in the job.

• Outpatient clinic experience.
• EMR experience.
• Front medical office experience.

• This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
