The Equipment Support Engineer is a pivotal role responsible for Sales and Education support. This position will interact with various departments and customers during educational events and congresses. Major responsibilities include supporting scheduling of equipment and disposables, device installation, and support for US-based educational events and US-based congresses, as well as repair and maintenance of educational and Sales demo units as required. Travel for this role is up to 40%. The incumbent must assure all devices under responsibility are maintained to manufacturers' specifications and meet all requirements associated with “PART 820 -- QUALITY SYSTEM REGULATION. Subpart N—Servicing, Sec. 820.200 Servicing” prior to shipment. Major Accountabilities: Demonstrate excellence in providing good customer service, articulateness, and good communication skills. Participate in the planning and organizational planning phase for onsite and remote events and US-based congresses. Create monthly reports and metrics to assure all deliverables related to equipment support and oversight are met. Manage all responsibilities of demo pool equipment, including compliance and documentation requirements. Territory is defined as all US Alcon locations, meeting sites, congresses/conventions sites, storage facilities, and repair facilities. Schedule and perform the installation, planned maintenance, repair, and modification of any Sales/Education demo pool systems. Possess a basic understanding of business practices and associated costs of managing US demo pool inventory. Partner with sales and education to install and support education and systems use during onsite and remote events and US-based congresses. Complete all assigned training and documentation requirements within assigned due dates. May recommend design changes to improve equipment efficiency, quality, and/or reduce cost of operation based on experiences during educational or congress events and hands-on repair activities. Provide support for internal and external audits as needed. Complete ad hoc assignments in support of the Quality Management System. Preferred Qualifications: Systems knowledge and ability to adapt to new processes and systems (ServiceMax, SAP, saleforce.com) a plus. Understanding of quality, compliance controls within the medical/surgical industry preferred. Understanding of warehouse environment to include inventory control. Demonstrated organizational skills, attentiveness to detail, and the ability to work under limited supervision.
