U.S. Marine Corps is Hiring a DIETICIAN NF4 Near Quantico, VA

Duties

  • Plans, develops and administers nutritional care, case management and instructional classes to promote health for active duty Marines, civilian employees and non active duty beneficiaries within the commuting area.
  • Responsible for assessing nutritional needs of individuals and groups, developing therapeutic diet plans, teaching the effects of nutrition on health and providing training and consultation on nutrition. Directs, promotes and evaluates nutritional components of programs and projects; develops standards, guides, educational and informational materials for use in programs.
  • Procures and distributes nutrition educational and promotional material. Develops curriculum and serves as subject matter expert for nutrition in relation to weight management, cholesterol control, tobacco cessation, pregnancy, hypertension control, and physical training.
  • Structures and recommends individual diet plans in conjunction with medical provider. Prepares and update/revises information and articles for use by local media, clients, and individual units aboard base. Provides staff education on nutrition and related issues.
  • Responsible for assisting in the development, planning, organizing and facilitation of Health Promotion programs.
  • Recruits and coordinates volunteers. Coordinates and promote Health Promotions events with military units, on-base civilian personnel and the general public off base. Publicizes events through appropriate media.
  • Coordinates program efforts with managers of other MCCS functions.
  • Maintains contracts for Health Promotion professionals. Provides information for budget planning.
  • Prepares and maintains various reports, records, documents and files. Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies, reordering items as necessary. Uses wide variety of computer software programs to include desktop publishing.
  • Plans, organizes work, and manages internal procedures and resources to ensure maximum productivity and economies.
  • Prepares internal office financial plans and related records and reports, and exercises authority on approved budget. Monitors programs on a regular basis, and initiates corrective action to ensure support of operating programs of MCCS.
  • Manages new property resources and may provide direction on facility renovations and improvements. Develops long range plans in conjunction with internal operating directives, and exercises internal personnel management authorities as delegated by the higher-level supervisor with regard to subordinate supervisors and employees in the office.
  • This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required.

EVALUATIONS:

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in nutrition, food service management, institutional management or a related field is required from an accredited college or university.
  • Must also be a registered dietician and be able to obtain current CPR certification.
  • 1-2 years work experience assessing dietary histories, recommending appropriate medical nutrition therapy and or conducting individual or group counseling sessions is preferred but not required.
  • Pediatrics experience preferred.
