U.S. Department of the Treasury is Hiring a Control Clerk Near Philadelphia, PA

Duties
The following are the duties of this position at the GS-7. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
  • Independently balances and performs final reconciliation of Check Payment Files. Completes the final reconciliation of check payment files printed and enclosed prior to release of the checks to the USPS.
  • Receives reconciled jobs and utilizes various reports to properly perform check inventory.
  • Examines documents for completeness, discrepancies, sampling requirements, and other special requirements. Posts transactions, documents, and entries to specialized records.
  • Performs mailing duties such as: prepares outgoing items for mailing and determines delivery class of mail; operates postal mail metering machine; retrieves metering activity report and records postage and item totals; updates database of agency labels for mailing use; orders express mail supplies; and schedules dispatch of items with courier service.
  • Prepares routine reports, daily and monthly reports or portions of larger more complex reports by researching, compiling and assembling materials, composing narrative and statistical input, and preparing a variety of accompanying documents such as graphs, tables, etc.

  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Must successfully complete a background investigation. Periodic reinvestigation is required no later than five years after selection and at least every succeeding five years.
  • Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required.
  • Obtain and use a Government-issued charge card for business-related travel.
  • This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into "Continuous Vetting." Enrollment in Continuous Vetting will result in automated record checks being conducted throughout one's employment with Treasury. The successful candidate will also be enrolled into FBI's Rap Back service, which will allow Treasury to receive notification from the FBI of criminal matters (e.g., arrests, charges, convictions) involving enrolled individuals in near real-time. QualificationsYou must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your résumé.
Specialized ExperienceFor the GS-07, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes:
  • Experience in the area of check payment, check reconciliation or payment administration functions; AND
  • Experience greeting clients and responding to inquiries in person, via email, or on the telephone; AND
  • Experience reviewing files or documents for completeness and compliance with established guidelines.
For The GS-06, You Must Have One Year Of Specialized Experience At a Level Of Difficulty And Responsibility Equivalent To The GS-05 Grade Level In The Federal Service. Specialized Experience For This Position Includes
  • Applying and evaluating rules, regulations, and procedures to complete assignments; AND
  • Preparing financial documents for mailing; AND
  • Preparing and reviewing reports and reconciling errors.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-07, you must have been at the GS-06 level for 52 weeks.
For the GS-06, you must have been at the GS-05 level for 52 weeks.
