Duties

As a Laborer (Motor Vehicle Operating), you will perform the following duties :

  • Operates heavy power equipment such as lawn mowers, chain saws and all types of hand and light power tools to maintain buildings, rounds, roads, trails, etc.
  • Loads and unloads supplies and materials from trucks, trailers, dollies, etc.
  • Performs landscaping and grounds keeping duties including use of heavy type power mowers, cutting trees and heavy vegetation or performs other duties requiring similar judgment and comparable physical effort.
  • Performs janitorial duties for buildings and grounds when required.
  • Operates vehicles and performs minor operating maintenance on light duty motor vehicles such as pickup trucks, panel trucks, flatbed trucks, carryalls, sedans, and crew cab pickup trucks.

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
  • Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
  • Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
  • You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required.

You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.

  • You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
  • You may be required to weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
  • If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period.

Qualifications

SELECTIVE FACTOR : This position performs on a regular and recurring basis operation of light duty motor vehicles weighing up to 10,000 pounds (such as pick-up trucks, panel trucks, flatbed trucks, etc.

to transport personnel, material, or equipment to work sites over Federal, state, and county roads and city streets in all traffic conditions, and a valid drivers license is required before entry on duty .

Candidates who do not meet this requirement will receive no further consideration for this position.

  • Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT)
  • Work Practices (including keeping things neat, clean, and in order)
  • Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (other than blueprints)
  • Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment
  • Dexterity and Safety
