U.S. Department of Justice is Hiring a SUPERVISORY ATTORNEY ADVISOR Near Falls, VA

Summary
This position is located in the Office of Policy, Executive Office for Immigration Review, U.S. Department of Justice. Incumbent is a Supervisory Attorney Advisor serving as the Chief, Recognition and Accreditation Program.

Duties
This position serves as a Supervisory Attorney Advisor, Chief of the Recognition & Accreditation (R&A) Program within the Office of Policy. Under delegated authority as appropriate, the incumbent determines whether organizations can be recognized, and representatives can be accredited under federal regulations governing the R&A Program.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Administers activities of the R&A Program to ensure the availability of competent, non- lawyer representation for low-income and indigent persons, in accordance with federal regulations.
Exercising delegated authority, analyzes applications to determine if an organization is qualified to provide immigration legal services through non-attorney staff members or volunteers.
Manages the assessment of applications for participation in the R&A Program.
Provides direction to staff to ensure compliance with overall program policies and strategic planning and guidelines and for developing changing priorities and guidance for operational efficiency.

You must complete a background investigation, credit check, and drug test.
Selective Service Registration is required, as applicable.
A two -year trial period will be required.

Salary payments must be by direct deposit to a financial institution.
Qualifications
In order to qualify for the SUPERVISORY ATTORNEY ADVISOR position, you must meet the following minimum qualifications:
Education: Applicants must possess an LL.B. or a J.D. degree. (Provide the month and year in which you obtained your degree and the name of the College or University from which it was conferred/awarded.)
AND
Licensure: Applicants must be an active member of the bar, duly licensed and authorized to practice law as an attorney under the laws of any state, territory of the U.S., or the District of Columbia. (Provide the month and year in which you obtained your first license and the State from which it was issued.)
AND
Required Experience:
For GS-15: Applicants must have four (4) full years (48 months) of post J.D. or LL.B professional legal experience.
Qualifying professional legal experience includes: Direct professional legal staff in the development, documentation, and operation of both internal processes and administrative/technical controls; exercise delegated authority to analyze eligibility from program; render definitive legal opinions and associated verbal advice to senior management and staff.

Preferred Experience:The ideal candidate will have experience with the following:
Providing technical and administrative supervision over attorneys and professional staff within an organization.
Planning and assigning work to subordinate attorneys and legal staff based on priorities and difficulty of the assignment.
Providing input and advice to Senior Officials on legal and policy decisions related to the program.
Coordinating with other government offices and/or agencies on legal and program operation matters.
NOTE: Qualifying experience is calculated only after receipt of J.D. or LL.B.
