Position Overview: Lead the Chamber’s policy and advocacy work on consumer protection as it relates to the Federal Trade Commission, support consumer protection policy more broadly, and depending on the candidate work on competition policy matters. Responsibilities: Lead in the formation of well-reasoned policy positions on consumer protection related issues.Develop and work to execute advocacy strategies before regulatory agencies, the Congress, as well as potentially, upon occasion foreign governments.Produce communications, op-eds, issue updates, testimony, and analysis.Generate other advocacy resources and marketing materials for member distribution and liaise with U.S. Chamber communications staff to develop outreach strategy.Manage relevant research projects, including issue related campaigns. Cultivate and deepen relationships with members, industry groups, think tanks, and policymakers. Requirements: 10 years policy or strategy work in consumer protection and competition policy, law degree preferred.Experience with the Federal Trade Commission, familiarity of other consumer oriented regulatory agencies a plus.Working knowledge competition policy, antitrust enforcement, and the related agencies a plus.Skilled at working with high-level executives and government officials.Proven strategic planning and execution capabilities.Ability to anticipate, identify, and analyze emerging issues and develop solutions.Strong project management skills, including fundraising and budget oversight responsibilities.Outstanding verbal and written communications skills.Ability to deliver outstanding service in a fast-paced, demanding environment, either working independently or as part of a team across all levels of the organization.Strong client service ethic.Proficiently in MS Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint). We recruit, employ, train, compensate, and promote without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, marital status, status as a protected veteran, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law.
