Job Description

U.S. Bank is seeking a Cloud Operations Infrastructure Engineer to contribute towards the success of our technology initiatives. Candidates must have a deep understanding of Cloud Operations with proven support experience. In addition to having experience with analytical tools like Splunk, the ideal applicant will also have experience with automation technologies. This role will be involved in a variety of operational activities, such as continuous environment health monitoring, maintaining standards and stability across the IaaS/PaaS/SaaS environment, initiating incident management protocol in the event of an issue, implementing recommended modifications while adhering to change management policies, participating in vulnerability management and remediation, and potentially engaging in disaster recovery tests.

This position demands having a broad range of knowledge, from cloud administration fundamentals to middleware and capacity planning. As part of Service Delivery, this individual will implement configuration changes and perform upgrades while functioning under the direction of the organizational teams for the application and hybrid cloud engineers.

Candidates applying for this position will have the skills and experience necessary to:

  • Analyze, diagnose, and resolve complex tasks as required

  • Investigate application and system events and solutions for the purposes of maintaining or improving the delivery of services

  • Function as a SME for less experienced team members and provide internal training / documentation

  • Creates and follows detailed Change Management documentation and implements approved changes

  • Must have a sense of urgency and the commitment required to work in a complex 24/7 environment

Intrinsically motivated and experienced candidates with a combination of in-depth cloud support and excellent communication/customer service skills should excel in this environment.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience

  • Two to three years of relevant experience

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Define and promote cloud operations and deployment automation

  • Establish and deploy the use of cloud operations techniques

  • Establish and implement a reliable and efficient cloud infrastructure

  • Experience supporting AWS or Azure

  • Proficiency with Splunk, SignalFX, AppDynamics, Terraform or related

  • Define and successfully implement a methodology and toolkit for infrastructure that is completely automated

  • Define, implement methodology and toolset for fully automated infrastructure management as a code

  • Support cloud customers with software installations, configuration, ongoing systems analysis, technical customer support, and systems administration for the IaaS/PaaS/SaaS technologies used in a multi-cloud environment

  • Possess the ability to effectively explain methods and outcomes to all members of the product team, including engineers, the product owner, the scrum master, outside vendors, and customers

  • Displays strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, as well as knowledge in cloud agnostic tools, automation, observability scripting, and programming.

  • Perform daily system administration tasks to verify that all systems are functioning

  • Monitor and troubleshoot application and infrastructure issues to ensure high availability, optimal performance, and system responsiveness

  • Perform root cause analysis for production issues if the root cause is in the infrastructure, environment, configuration, or deployment procedures; recognize the appropriate times to involve product development teams; remedy underlying issues and implement preventative measures/actions.

  • Performs basic database monitoring and troubleshooting of database performance and availability issues

The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $90,100.00 - $106,000.00 - $116,600.00Job postings typically remain open for approximately 20 days of the posting date listed above, however the job posting may be closed earlier should it be determined the position is no longer required due to business need.
