U.S. Army is Hiring a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic Near Los Banos, CA

Enlistment is required for this position.
To become an enlisted Soldier in the U.S. Army, you must be:
  • A U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien.
  • In good physical condition.
  • In good moral standing.
  • A high school graduate or equivalent.
The Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic is primarily responsible for supervising and performing maintenance and recovery operations on wheeled vehicles and associated items, as well as heavy-wheeled vehicles and select armored vehicles.
Job Duties:
  • Maintain wheeled vehicles, their associated trailers, and material handling equipment systems.
  • Inspecting, servicing, maintaining, repairing, replacement, adjusting, and testing of wheeled vehicles and material handling equipment systems, subsystems, and components.
  • Service automotive electrical systems including the wiring harness, and starting and charging systems.
  • Perform wheeled vehicle recovery operations.
Training:
Job training for a wheeled vehicle mechanic requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training and 12 weeks of Advanced Individual Training with on-the-job instructions. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field.

  • Enjoy physical work.
  • Troubleshooting and repairing mechanical problems.
  • Interest in automotive engines and how they work.
