Duties

• Serves as the Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RDN), under the direction of the unit Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) Director, supporting the Army's H2F System.
• Deliver individual, group, and unit nutrition services and education to optimize Soldier performance, overall unit readiness and mission success. Provide nutrition education using evaluation tools to measure impacts in support of the H2F System.
• Work as a team player with Army leaders, Soldiers, allied health professionals, athletic trainers, cognitive health specialists, and strength and conditioning specialists to implement the H2F program.
• Utilize accurate and relevant data and information to identify nutrition-related concerns; identify and implement appropriate, purposefully planned interventions designed to influence behavior change.
• Provide nutritional counseling and programing that impacts successful performance of mentally and physically demanding operations and missions of tactical and strategic importance, as well as nonoperational assignments.
• Conduct assessment, diagnosis, intervention and monitoring and evaluation of individuals and groups with the goal of improving foundational health.
• Develop comprehensive performance nutrition programs. Collect outcomes data to assess programming, identify areas for improvement, apply improvements to processes, and monitor outcomes.
• Incorporate current research/evidence and industry best practices in the development of nutrition services/programs.
• Provide education and resources in the unit footprint to maximize participation of Soldiers who are currently above their body fat standard IAW the Army Body Composition Program (ABCP).
• Develop or contribute to design and maintenance of unit policies and operating procedures that reflect evidence-based practice in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Participate in unit quality assurance and performance improvement processes to document outcomes and best practices relative to nutrition programs and resource management.
• Integrate food and nutrition strategies that enhances foundational health, optimizes performance, and supports rehabilitation and recovery.
• Train and mentor inter and intra organization staff to standardize nutrition messages in accordance with current research/evidence and industry best practices.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
• In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
• Must be willing to undergo and successfully complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination with No Deception Indicated (NDI) on a pre-appointment and periodic basis.
