U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is Hiring an Engineering Technician Near Bonneville, OR

About the Position: This position is located in the Portland District Engineering and Construction Division, Construction Branch. The Construction Branch is responsible for civil works construction engineering management consisting of contract administration, quality assurance, environmental and safety oversight, design reviews, and cost estimating.

Qualifications:

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA to meet Critical Hiring Needs to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Who May Apply: US Citizens

In order to qualify, you must meet the education or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document.

Minimum Qualifications GS-04:

General and/or Specialized Experience: Six months of general experience (1) in any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position, or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with engineering documents AND six months of specialized experience which includes researching and collecting engineering technical data for analyses to identify discrepancies in computations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-03).

OR

Education:
Two years of education above the high school level that included at least 12 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics.

OR

Combination of Education and Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education by 60. Add the two percentages.

Minimum Qualifications GS-05:

Specialized Experience:
One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in the design or quality assurance of a construction or engineering project or plan, including using computer programs or spreadsheets to track project progress or review reports to ensure compliance with project requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

OR

Education:
Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; OR (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics. [At least 6 of the 24 semester hours must have been in drafting if the position has been designated by a drafting area of specialization.]

OR

Combination of Education and Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
