U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is Hiring an ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (ELECTRICAL) Near Nashville, TN

Duties

  • Independently review Contract Technical Submittals for accuracy and conformance with contract requirements.
  • Assemble individual sketches, material schedules, and design data from a variety of sources to produce final drawings, reports, and schedules.
  • Operate the District's Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) equipment, from information in the form of engineering notes, sketches, computations and reference materials.
  • Perform engineering computations and compiles results for engineers and designers.
  • Apply 3-D modeling software to create models.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • May be selected at any grade level with non-competitive promotion potential to target grade. Non-competitive promotion potential to the target grade based on time-in-grade requirements and demonstrated ability to perform the higher graded duties.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify at the GS-09 grade level, you must have:
Specialized Experience: Your resume must reflect one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service which includes assisting the engineering team in developing preliminary and final designs for various engineering features; uses Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) equipment to assist in preparing preliminary and detailed design layouts for all aspects of projects involving electrical elements; uses office automation to prepare supporting documents; assists in applying 3D-Modeling software, sketches, and final drawings of electrical elements for local flood protection, navigation, flood control, and recreation projects. {The OPM Qualification Standard provides the following examples: technical work in drafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems}. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-08.
To qualify at the GS-10 grade level, you must have:

How You Will Be Evaluated

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
