Duties

• Determine supplies and tools required for maintenance and repair of deck machinery and related deck operations and notifies supervisor of needs.
• Direct and assist subordinates in the interpretation and performance of complex jobs and those requiring extensive emergency repair operations.
• Operates ship's launch and vehicle as required.
• Within the framework of general assignments from the Chief Mate establish priorities and prepares work schedules.
• Trains subordinates in safe work methods and utilization of all prescribed safety equipment.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• You must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state's driver's license.
• This is a mandatory drug Testing Designated Position (TDP), in accordance with EP 600-1-300, USACE Drug Testing Procedures for the Army’s Drug-Free Federal Workplace (DFW) Program, dated 28 Feb 01.
• You must have a current United States Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC), Able Bodied Seaman (AB) Endorsement, or higher AND
• an Operator Uninspected Passenger Vessel (OUPV) license or higher AND a current Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
• This position has a requirement to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
