Tyonek Native Corporation is Hiring an Aircraft Mechanic II - Sheetmetal (FRCE) Near Beaufort, SC

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Performs a full range of aircraft sheet metal duties including, but not limited to, disassemble, modify, repair, and reassemble complex aircraft metal items and systems, e.g., bulkheads, airframes, spars, air scoops, wings, flaps, pylons, sponsons, fuselages, skins, ribs, gussets and fuel tanks.

DUTIES

  • Candidate must be intimately familiar with all associate pneumatic and power riveting tools and sheet metal tools
  • Analyze and evaluate structural damage to metal system and items
  • Develop patterns using a combination of parallel and radial line development
  • Fabricate, install, and repair a variety of items and systems made from a wide variety of metals, e.g., stainless steel, copper sheet, magnesium, honeycomb, alloys, aluminum etc.
  • Replace sections and patch old systems
  • Cut, bend, shape, and form metals for items that have numerous irregular angles, planes and curves with varying pitch and circumference
  • Use a variety of assembly joints, complex fastening systems, riveted or welded joints
  • Drill or punch holes
  • Assemble or repair items by seaming, soldering, bolting, screwing, riveting, tacking and spot welding
  • User precision measuring instruments such as calipers, protractors, snap ring, height, depth, dial and screw pitch gauges, squares, rulers, trammel points and sine bars
  • Use oxyacetylene cutting torches and electric arc welding machines.
  • Other Duties as Assigned

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have at least two years of documented experience in Aerospace and/or Aircraft Sheet metal procedures and processes.
  • Prefer experience from military fixed wing and/or rotor community, including, but not limited to: "H- 1, H-53, V-22, AV-8, F/A-18, F-35 " or civilian heavy structures sheet metal/fastener R&R background.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints
  • Must be familiar with U.S. Military aviation maintenance criteria and specifications
  • Must be able to manufacture, fabricate, develop, install and repair a variety of items from a variety of metals including high strength steel, titanium, aluminum and numerous alloys, fiberglass and honeycomb/composite skins.
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must be able to pass a National Agency background check, which could include a criminal history and credit check for access to Government facilities

  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for certain periods throughout the day.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
  • May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • May be required to see aircraft in flight, read dials/gauges, identify small objects and hand tools.
  • Must be able to see imperfections, micrometer readings and other small scales.
  • Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sound by ear.
  • Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
  • May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, fork lift, APU, etc.
