Tyndale House Publishers is Hiring an Acquisitions Editor, Fiction Near Carol Stream, IL

Tyndale House Publishers is seeking an acquisitions editor to contribute to Tyndale Books Fiction line through acquisitions support and project development and management of fiction products. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team, use your organizational and interpersonal talents, and act as a liaison with authors, team members, and other departments.

Primary responsibilities

Review proposals submitted to the acquisitions team and assess them for publishing potential. Respond to proposals in consultation with and on behalf of the acquisitions team. Ideal candidates should aspire to acquire projects that meet established goals and vision for Tyndale’s fiction line.
Responsible to assist with developing proposals for internal review committees, including performing market research when necessary.
Assist in evaluating acquired manuscripts for acceptability and, when applicable, offer recommendations for improving content. Track project status and communicate with internal teams.
Support acquisitions team with project management for acquired products, including tracking schedules and deadlines, communicating with authors and agents, and helping the team prepare and ensure excellence in all materials necessary to bring each book to market.
Coordinate with various internal departments regarding cover and book interior design aspects, costs and pricing estimates, and content decisions for book projects and related assets.

Requirements

A love of books in general and fiction in particular is extremely important for this position, as is the ability to write strong copy. Candidates must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to manage multiple projects at one time with attention to detail and schedules. Candidate should be familiar with the evangelical Christian culture in publishing and preferably have at least two years of experience working in publishing or a related field. A college degree is required.

This is a full-time, in-house position in Carol Stream, Illinois.
