SUMMARY:

Environmental Services Technician is an essential member of the EVS Team. Under general supervision the EVS Technician is responsible for skilled cleaning, sanitization, preventative, and general maintenance duties as assigned according to the division's essential duties as identified below. The EVS Technician is a versatile position which consists of multiple assignment divisions. The EVS Tech. possesses the ability to move throughout all divisions allowing flexibility and additional opportunities for career advancement.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES ASSIGNED:

General Duties:

  • Technicians will be expected to provide the highest level of customer service while contributing to the positive team culture.
  • Sweeps, mops, scrubs, or vacuums floors.
  • Empty wastebaskets, recycle and other receptacles and empty them at designated locations
  • Dust and clean furniture, walls, equipment, ceiling vents, tiles, doors, and light fixtures.
  • Cleans windows, mirrors, and partitions with designated cleaning chemicals.
  • Perform cleaning and maintenance of carpet, tile, vinyl floors, upholstered furniture draperies and other designated materials. 
  • Assist with stripping, cleaning, and waxing floors.
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies. 
  • Rearrange or move furniture, supplies and miscellaneous equipment, as directed
  • Promotes and contribute to continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Reports needs and concerns to appropriate leadership, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels.
  • Identify and report maintenance needs throughout assigned work areas to supervisors.
  • Follows procedures according to manufacture and safety standards when mixing cleaning solutions and chemicals in preparation for cleaning and when using and power machinery. 
  • Stocks and maintains service rooms and storage areas in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Accurately maintain cleaning logs and records that specify the area of the facility that has been cleaned.
  • Complete non-routine tasks according to specified job orders.
  •  Responds to emergency cleaning and upkeep requests.
  • Willingness to train and operate cleaning machinery such as burnishers, carpet extractors, buffers, KaiVac and sprayers.
  • Responsible for maintaining daily sanitization and disinfecting schedule.
  • Clean and disinfect restrooms, shower room fixtures, air vents, shower enclosures, and drains
  • Stock supply carts after each shift to ensure readiness for the next day
  • Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment and follow MSDS and OSHA standards
  • Maintain knowledge of proper handling of bio-hazardous material
  • Report drug related paraphernalia to supervisor.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming which include wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working
  • Must be a successful communicator capable of discussing detailed situations effectively and clearly
  • Continually seek opportunities to create value for our customers and ensure high customer satisfaction
  • Utilizes a computerized maintenance management system for demand work request and other potential related issues.
  • Maintain regular communications with the EVS Supervisor, updating progress on assignments and potential improvements
  • Embrace new and emerging technologies to support operations through flexibility and the ability to learn and adapt to change
  • Proficient in the use of computers, software applications, and with mobile smart devices; this includes the basics of texting, email, and application management.
  • Remain relevant and innovated through self-described reading related to facility maintenance and safety procedures by attending professional development courses as required by the EVS Supervisor.
  • Sphere of influence; Professional and personal conduct must reflect positively on GCCR as an organization
  • The ability to perform assigned after hours/weekend, holidays and on call duties, as scheduled by management, must be able to respond to emergencies.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Casino Division:

  • Responsible for cleaning all aspects of the Casino all the time and maintain assigned areas of the facility as directed.
  • Perform cleaning and sanitization of facility bathrooms on an hourly, daily, and weekly basis
  • Maintain cleanliness of marquee and advertisement signs within facility.
  • Clean glass and trim on entrance doors, sliding glass doors, and exterior of building
  • Dust high ceilings and fixtures inside of building and immediate outdoor by building entrances. 
  • Polish and clean elevator interior and brass railings.

Hotel Division:

  • Team Members have flexible start time between 8:00am – 11:00 am as assigned
  • Ensure hotel rooms have clean linens and box spring covers. 
  • Clean guest rooms including such tasks as making the beds, vacuuming, emptying trash, and cleaning and dusting all surfaces including furniture, picture frames, mirrors, windows, baseboards, carpet edges, inside and outside door panels, door ledges and thresholds
  • Ensure that supplies, materials, and equipment are available to complete work assignments and ensure the success of guest service program
  • Maintain adequate supplies of clean linen, sheets, towels, pillowcases, and other items for guest rooms.
  • Ensure TV and entertainment devices are in clean condition and in working order. 
  • Responsible for cleaning room furniture and ensuring they are in the designated location
  • Clean and stock complimentary appliances: Coffee machine, microwave, fridge etc.
  • Replenish all guest amenities and information folder as needed
  • Notify EVS Supervisor of any guests' valuables found in the rooms while servicing
  • Report all cases of property damage to the EVS Supervisor
  • Inspect and clean under bed skirts, desk, tables, and behind nightstands
  • Check and report all missing items such as clocks, ice buckets, hair dryers, and hangers, etc.
  • Maintain confidentiality of guest information and hotel data
  • May assist supervisor with inspecting rooms and/or providing oversight of EVS I hotel room duties as requested

Wardrobe/Laundry Division:

  • Provide uniform and linen services to all departments.
  • Process linen and uniform delivery from vendors.
  • Keep the work area in clean and orderly condition.
  • Performing cleaning of non-contract uniforms and linens. 
  • Oversees and document team member uniform assignments.
  • Collects, segregate, and document uniform and linen returns.
  • Identifies, tracks, and reports uniform and linen inventory.
  • Identify and perform repairs on linen items and uniforms. 
  • Maintain cleanliness of the lower level, locker rooms and team dining areas. 
  • Track and report cost savings to Wardrobe/Laundry Supervisor.
  • Gather and prepare vendor products for pick-up service.
  • Utilize computer tracking to record inventory and usage.
  • Wash, clean and organize linen and uniforms. 
  • Monitor quality of uniform and linen cleaning results and provide feedback to improve cleanliness standards

NOTE:

  •  Hotel/Wardrobe/Laundry Division EVS Team Members under the age of 21 will not be eligible to work in other available EVS Divisions. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 1 year custodial work-related experience is required.
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Ability to understand oral and verbal communication while using GCCR communication tools which include but are not limited to radios, phones, and or email
  • Capable of lifting or moving objects up to 75 pounds, as necessary.
  • Ability to obtain certifications in boom, scissor, and forklift operation if assigned. (Training provided by GCCR)
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel.
  • Must be proactive and capable of assuming additional responsibilities, as necessary.
  • Must be able to work extended work hours and/or non-traditional work shifts.
  • Ability to multitask and maintain schedule while responding to unscheduled requests.
  • Must have a strong work ethic and excellent work attendance history
  • Experience with Office 365 Suite or proactive willingness to learn
  • Proactive with the ability to work independently under little supervision.
  • The Casino is open 24 hours per day, seven (7) days per week; therefore, you must be flexible to work all shifts.
  • Must pass initial drug screening, background investigation, and random drug tests.

Ability to effectively communicate with leadership and team members.

MATHAMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 

REASONING ABILITY: 

Ability to apply commonsense reasoning to a variety of situations and manage changes in environment. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions furnished in written, and oral form. Ability to maintain visual attention and mental concentration needed to perform assigned duties in highly disruptive conditions. Must be detail orientated and possess organizational skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Previous experience in Heavy Duty cleaning.
  • Specific vision requirements for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to speak and listen. 
  • The Team Member is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
  • The Team Member is regularly required to climb or balance using ladders or man lifts at heights up to 50 feet.
  • The Team Member must frequently lift and/or move 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the casino floor, the noise level increases too loud.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Moderate to considerable physical activity; requires handling of objects up to 75 pounds, standing or walking for extended periods, climbing ladders, bending, and squatting, crawling in tight spaces, and use of protective equipment. The work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require the following basic safety precautions. Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. When on the Casino floor, the noise level increases too loud. While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is exposed to secondhand tobacco smoke, moving mechanical parts and risk of radiation from computers. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
