Accounts Receivable Manager
Lansing, MI (Corporate)
The initial period of employment will take place on-site at our Corporate Office location in Lansing, MI. Following 6 - 9 months of on-site training the position will move to a hybrid model which involves, both on-site and work from home opportunities.

Summary:
The Accounts Receivable Manager is responsible for leading the accounts receivable function which includes oversight of the accounts receivable team. This position is responsible for ensuring all accounts receivable transactions are managed efficiently and effectively, including but not limited to invoicing, collections, and cash receipt application. Additionally, this position will focus on process optimization, efficiency, effectiveness, standardization for quality controls and help build a culture of continuous process improvement within the department.
Duties/Essential Job Functions:
  • Leads and mentors the accounts receivable team in a fashion that supports the company’s culture, mission, and values to ensure accurate and effective operation.
  • Responsible for recruiting and retaining team members that help meet the company goals. Creates standards, processes and metrics for productivity and ensures those are met across the A/R team.
  • Develops and implements policies, procedures (invoicing, cash receipts, collections, etc.) and objectives for accounts receivable processes to increase efficiency of internal processes, ensuring team is performing at optimal levels. Re-evaluates for continuous improvements and adapts as needed to reduce the number of outstanding accounts.
  • Trains team members regarding accounts receivable processes; ensuring team performs in agreement with accounting principles
  • Ensures accurate and timely reporting; prepares weekly review of open accounts; month end processing; and establishes, tracks and reports on metrics for collection efforts
  • Performs tasks related to accounts receivable including but not limited to:
    • Entering voids on cash receipts when applicable and handles all refunds and credits to owners
    • Cash receipts and application, ensuring accurate posting
    • Invoicing
    • Collections
    • Balances lockbox ensuring error resolution if needed
Education or Equivalent Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and equivalent experience is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant accounting experience in accounts receivable is required
  • Minimum of two years of management/leadership experience is required.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities (SKA) Required:
  • Advanced/Intermediate MS Office skills preferred
  • Strong communication and customer service support skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow through
  • Ability to work with various groups and individuals effectively
  • Ability to keep sensitive data confidential

  • Ability to carry out, interpret and enforce existing accounts receivable policies, methods, and procedures; ability to apply standard procedure and learned knowledge to develop solutions within established guidelines relating to the accounts receivable function.
  • Ability to develop sound business relationships with all appropriate functional areas such as all accounting entities; interfaces effectively with internal and external customers to resolve problems of a non-routine nature
  • Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job
  • Awareness of others’ reactions and understanding why they react as they do, adjusting actions in relation to other’s actions
  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting t inappropriate times.
  • Managing one’s own time and the time of others

Incumbent must be prepared to:
  • Sitting for prolonged periods of time while using office equipment such as computers, phones etc.
  • Fingering and Repetitive motions, such as movement of wrists, hands and fingers while picking, pinching, and typing during your normal working environment.
  • Express or exchange ideas with others using spoken word, quickly, accurately, and at an easily audible volume, and receive detailed information through oral communication at usual speaking levels without correction, and/or make fine discriminations in the nature of sounds in the environment.
Incumbent is required to have:
  • Close visual acuity to perform detail-oriented activities at distances close to the eyes, as well as visual acuity to perform activities at or within arm’s reach with skill, control, and accuracy, such as preparing and analyzing data, viewing computer screen and expansive reading.
Incumbent will be subject to:
  • Inside working conditions in an office setting with no unusual hazards.
