About the role

We are seeking two Harvest Interns to support harvest and wine production activities at our site. The position will run from June/July through November of 2024.

Major responsibilities:

  • Setup, adjustment and operation of cellar equipment including bottling
  • Responsible for sanitation and cleanliness in assigned area of responsibility
  • Maintains equipment, cooperage, and tanks in assigned area of responsibility
  • Suggests measures to improve employee safety, wine quality, and/or production efficiency
  • Estimates and inspects cellar supplies as assigned
  • Attention to detail is a desired skill and qualification and ability to always follow safety regulations are required
  • Ability to work six days a week 8-12 hour shifts pending on work load and daily schedule; available for PM shift if required
  • Helps ensure wine quality is maintained by cellar team and other cellar duties may be assigned at any time

About you

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one-year cellar experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in English. Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to detect objectionable characteristics of wine from preferred odors, i.e. to recognize by sight, sound, feel, taste, or smell characteristics of wine or products used in the making of wine that define a deficiency in the wine.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to stand and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in high, precarious places and in regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions.

Pay Transparency Disclosure: The base pay range offered for this position is $18.75 to $27 per hour. These figures represent what we reasonably expect to pay for this position, but the actual compensation offered will depend upon numerous job-related factors, including but not limited to candidate qualifications, skills, experience, education, location, and alignment with market data. Our expectation is that the incumbent will work out of Calistoga, CA. If the incumbent works out of another location, the wage rate may fall above or below this range. Treasury reserves the right to modify the range in the future.
