Director of Student Affairs
Job Summary
Lead the coordination of veterinary student services and serve as the primary liaison for the Executive Director of Administration and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Serves as primary contact for student-related matters, including general oversight of student organizations on the campus, oversight of applicable office personnel and personnel-related matters, and oversight of compliance with A V MA Council on Education rules and regulations, particularly student safety.
Essential Job Duties
  • Lead the coordination of veterinary student services and serve as the primary liaison for the Executive Director of Administration and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs.
  • Coordinate scheduling examination proctors and assist with the ExamSoft platform.
  • Assist with the daily maintenance of the college’s web-based mentoring program within the Graduway platform.
  • Oversees the daily operations in the office of veterinary student affairs and provides supervisory leadership to assigned staff.
  • Provide effective leadership and management in all matters related to veterinary student affairs.
  • Serves as primary contact for student-related matters, including general oversight of student organizations on the campus, oversight of applicable office personnel and personnel-related matters, and oversight of compliance with A V MA Council on Education rules and regulations, particularly student safety.
  • Serves as student advocate and advisor of student-related matters associated with the office of student affairs.
  • Designs, implements, and assesses student orientation welcome week for the incoming veterinary students in collaboration with the director of veterinary admissions and recruitment and the associate dean.
  • Provide leadership for students to plan, organize and implement co-curricular activities. This includes student clubs and professional organizations.
  • Oversees the development and implementation of programs and activities that will enable and encourage students to maximize their professional development and career planning.
  • Participate as a member of various committees related to student affairs.
  • Work with other support units to foster an environment to achieve optimal academic, psychological, personal, and professional development.
  • Collects, assess, and evaluate data to assist the associate dean with reports for the College and the accreditation process.
  • Perform other duties related to the enhancement of the College and University as assigned.
Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)
  • Bachelor’s degree in the social sciences, education, or closely related field. However, a Master’s degree in the social sciences, higher education, college student services, administration/management or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience working in a supervisory or management role.

  • Excellent organizational skills: able to set priorities and achieve them.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently; ability to delegate and supervise tasks.
  • Excellent computer skills including database and spreadsheets
