Full Time – 36-hour schedule. (Benefit Eligible) Schedule Monday – Thursday 12 pm - 8 pm
Part Time - Schedule: Monday – Thursday 4:30 – 8:00 pm

About Us:
Turning Point, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive domestic violence services. We are seeking a motivated Shelter Advocate to join our team and make a difference in the lives of survivors.
Position Summary:
The Family and Childcare DV Advocate will provide support to Turning Point clients by providing childcare to the various support groups at the agency and for house meeting in the shelter. In addition, the Family and Childcare DV Advocate will support client families by providing appropriate parenting information, counseling and developmental screens to children and families. Also responsible for coordinating services and providing linkage and case management to victims of domestic violence residing in the emergency shelter in addition to Turning Point’s 24/7 Helpline
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide childcare and activities during support groups and shelter meetings.
Organize and set up needed materials and supplies in childcare room and sanitize toys as needed.
Complete a service plan with parents for shelter children (age 0-6) providing information on developmental stages and safety planning for themselves and their children.
Educate Shelter parents on trauma-informed parenting and offer support as needed.
Provide counseling, education, and support to parents, children and adolescents in the shelter and in domestic violence program, and completion of appropriate documentation
Provide crisis intervention and stabilization.
Respond to calls on the 24-hour helpline, offering support, safety planning, and referrals.
Screen for shelter eligibility and coordinate arrival arrangements.
Update and maintain accurate service documentation.
Provide counseling, case management, and group education for shelter residents.
Monitor shelter safety and enforce operational protocols.
Participate in staff meetings, supervision, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice or Human Services (preferred)
1-2 years' experience in domestic violence or crisis work (preferred)
1-2 years’ experience in child care/child development (preferred)
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to multitask.
21 years or older
Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills a plus
