Job Title: P/T Resident Monitor
Program: Veterans Transitional Housing Program

Status: Part Time Hours/Week: 24 hours 3 days a week

Position Summary
Resident Monitor is responsible for overseeing the health, safety and well-being of Veterans Transitional Housing Program residents and the security of the environment. Must be available to interact with clients as well as mediate client conflicts and manage crisis situations.
Essential Functions Assure safety of the environment.
a. Maintain awareness of clients’ moods, behaviors, and actions--noting changes in client chart.
b. Mediate client disputes as necessary.
c. Evaluate and manage crisis situations in a calm and timely fashion; make determination of when the crisis team or police intervention is appropriate and proceed accordingly after consulting with case manager or program manager if possible.
d. Assist with intake process.
e. Orient clients to Program.
f. Communicate with program staff.
g. Documentation, incidents, grievances, and maintenance requests.
h. Audit meal logs and mileage logs prior to forwarding them to administration. Maintain phone logs, staff logs, etc.
i. Assist case managers with phone contacts.
j. Assist residents in developing living skills with meal preparation, shopping, cooking, and household chores in preparation independent permanent housing.
k. Educate clients regarding medication issues--including compliance, side effects, benefits, and how to communicate problems to their physician.
l. Transport clients to outside meetings and appointments as required.
m. Participate in staff meeting.
n. Supports community service relationships.
o. Additional duties as assigned by program manager.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Minimum two years’ experience providing supportive services to severely and persistently mentally ill adults, preferably within a psychosocial rehabilitation model. Veteran preferred.
Licenses and Certificates
Valid California Driver License
Driving record must be acceptable to our insurance carrier
Current Basic Life Support Certification

1. Must possess knowledge of serious mental illness and the mental health system.
2. Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
3. Manage multiple tasks.
4. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
5. Bilingual/bicultural skills highly valued.
