Job Description

Our Energy & Natural Resources segment helps our clients deliver and achieve better outcomes across the oil and gas, mining, and renewable energy sectors globally. Our experience and expertise helps our clients manage the complexity of these large programmes to meet goals by deploying effective supply chain solutions and achieving cost and schedule certainty through disciplined project controls.

We partner with clients to realise opportunities through:

Better connecting: we inform, shape, and connect energy and natural resources projects and programmes to marketplace innovation and global leading practice. We support opportunities for investment and benchmark performance to support decision making.

Broadening strategy: we define and execute sustainable strategies for organisations that own, operate, or invest in natural resources programmes. We help develop business cases, drive whole life asset management, and return on investment.

Effective set-up: we set up projects for success by establishing programme operating models, developing baselines, building capability, engaging the market, and establishing appropriate technology platforms.

Controlling and managing delivery: we relentlessly drive and assure performance to deliver successful outcomes. We implement lessons learned and enable clients to meet, and beat, performance targets.

Our global Clean Energy team works across renewables, energy transmission, carbon capture and nuclear power. Our ambition is to be the catalyst for the world’s energy transition.

We are seeking to appoint a senior consultant with a proven background in delivering projects and programs in the clean energy sector to lead the continued success and expansion of our clean energy and decarbonization service offering in the US.

Responsibilities

  • Market offer – contributing to the ongoing development of our project and programs offering, including service approaches, best practices, etc.
  • Strategy – working with our global leadership and in-country teams to determine and implement a sector strategy.
  • Opportunities – identifying opportunities and leading project and program pursuits across the US, increasing our market share and influence within the clean energy and transmission sectors.
  • Partnerships – leading on development of strategic partnerships to enable opportunities, proposition, and delivery.
  • Execution – serve as a project director / leader of our service on new commissions.
  • Capability development – build a team and lead the development and nurturing of talent, in line with strategy and opportunities.
  • Assurance – development of core assurance methodology associated with the projects in the local market.
  • Growth – enable and achieve financial targets and continued growth within target markets, with responsibility for P&L.
  • Thought leadership – author publications and speak at industry events related to best practices and innovation within clean energy and transmission.

Qualifications

  • Qualified to degree level within construction and / or engineering.
  • Professional chartership desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to establish robust relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to access and influence key decision makers within clients, regulatory bodies, and government.
  • Strategically minded with a considered and consistent approach to decision-making and leadership.
  • Proactive approach to business development via new and existing clients, including cross-selling opportunities, and leading pursuits and tenders.
  • Ability to serve in the capacity of a ‘doer / leader’ – someone who can deliver the service while growing talent and the pipeline nationally.
  • Considerable construction industry experience from a project / program / cost management or project controls background.
  • Extensive experience working in the clean energy sector, ideally in transmission and / or renewables, with a proven track record in successfully delivering major projects and programs.
  • A broad understanding of the electricity value chain from generation, through grid, and into supply.
  • Experience of working within both client and consultant environments an advantage.
  • Preference for US experience with an established network within the power industry supply chain.
  • Experience working with global accounts and supporting the growth of those relationships.

Additional Information

Turner & Townsend carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Director - Clean Energy & Transmission position is $185,000 annually and the maximum salary for the Director - Clean Energy & Transmission position is $260,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.
