Turner Industries is Hiring a Project Controls Manager - Pasadena, TX Near Pasadena, TX

Turner Industries Group, LLC has an opening for a Project Controls Manager to join our Project Controls Team in the Pasadena, Texas area. The candidate may be assigned to one of the following contract type Maintenance, Turnarounds, Construction, Small or Large Capital Projects, or a combination of the four.

Functional Requirements:

This senior level role provides leadership and direction to the project controls team. Gather, analyze, and report status and insight regarding progress and performance of the job to senior decision makers, both internally and externally. The role engages the project during the proposal stage, establishes the controls framework after award, and supports the project through closeout. The project controls team provides project estimating, planning, scheduling, cost accounting, performance measurement and analysis, forecasting, and reporting expertise, including change management of the scope of work.

Primary Responsibilities and Task:

  • Managing control team across the full range of project control activities Planning, Estimating, Schedule, Cost, Document Control, and Procurement
  • Ability to read and understand contract documents for key points and accountability
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with project stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to manage scope changes effectively
  • Thorough understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Thorough understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling
  • Thorough understanding of data required to deliver Work Packaging
  • Understanding of business analytics
  • Understanding of Cost Code Structures, coding of expenditures and relationship of cost control functions with planning, scheduling, material, and rentals
  • Thorough understanding of Cost Accounting processes
  • Understanding of client Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
  • Assists in coordinating engineering and construction activities in conjunction with overall project schedule requirements
  • Bid evaluation and negotiations up to award and contract execution specifically related to lump sum turnkey, EPC contracts for major process units
  • Oversee the preparation of subcontractor work packages for the bid process and work execution
  • Preparing weekly analyses and reports on expenditures, progress, commitments, budget performance and schedule performance
  • Provides regular briefing to project manager on project financials, schedule status, issues, and concerns
  • Anticipate complex internal and external project control issues with impact on the organization
  • Understanding of required data and deliverables for each phase within the project life cycle
  • Understanding methods to measure and track physical performance using Rules of Credit
  • Oversee and monitor the documenting progress of the scope work within the client's ERP system and/or Turner applications
  • Mentor and develop junior staff in project controls systems and best practices

Preferred Work Experience:

  • Four (4) years combined experience in areas of controls, project management, cost control, scheduling, and performance analysis, or two (2) years combined experience with a BS degree in one of the following: Business Administration, Construction Management, Accounting, or related curriculum. Experience must be in any combination of industrial maintenance, capital projects, and/or outages and turnarounds
  • Four (4) years of jobsite mechanical craft experience
  • NCCER certification, craft journeyman, or foreman in industrial construction, maintenance or turnarounds is an additional benefit
  • Must have some technical knowledge or have led projects within a technical/engineering environment
  • Performed analytical tasks related to workflow process, identifying how process impacts expected results.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational, leadership, motivational, and communication skills while maintaining a professional appearance
  • Preferred experience in planning software applications.

Job site specific requirements:

  • Large scale Applied Project experience with a proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously a plus
  • Knowledge of SAP, Basic Knowledge of P6 and E1
  • Knowledge of Turner Applications WinTake®, QuickPlan® and Win PCS® is an additional benefit
