The Role
This job description is an overview of the roles and responsibilities of the Robot Maintenance Technician, who will be a part of the local Shed and the broader Supply Chain team at Turf Tank. This team member will report to the Robot Maintenance Lead and will be an essential contributor to the success of our company’s supply chain network. The success of this role will have a profound impact on our customer experience and assist the efficiency of our managers. The Robot Maintenance Technician’s time/duties will also be spent supporting the Warehouse and Product Support teams.
Overview
The Shed: Robot Testing, Maintenance, and Repair (75%)
The Shed is the physical space where robots and parts are tested, repaired, and maintained. Robots & related parts come back to Turf Tank from the field for warranty, repair, or refurbishment. These robots/parts must be tested, troubleshoot, and renewed to get them back into the field for use. It is imperative for the Support and Developments teams to have the testing & troubleshooting results documented and communicated; these teams will use these results to make necessary improvements for current & future Turf Tank products.
While this role will spend the majority of time in the Shed, this team member needs to be comfortable communicating and collaborating across a wide spectrum of roles and departments to move the Turf Tank mission forward.
Warehouse (15%)
All of Turf Tank’s products (robots, paint, spare parts, etc.) are processed and distributed through our warehouses with accuracy and urgency. Warehouse functions such as receiving, picking, packing, and inventory management will all be necessary duties when warehouse demand dictates. This team member will work closely with other warehouse team members to fulfill customer orders.
Product Support (10%)
Turf Tank highly values providing supreme service and support to every customer. This role will have intimate knowledge of the robot and its various components, serving as a resource for external and internal customers within the team to troubleshoot and resolve any issues. Effective communication & collaboration among all team members, including management, warehouse supervisors, sales reps, and field operations, is crucial to the company's success.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Shed
Robot Repairs and Refurbishment
- learn and maintain up-to-date knowledge of the robot mechanics
- repair damaged robots with all necessary documentation, tracking maintenance history
- inspect, refurbish, and test robots, following end-of-subscription process(es); robots must be confirmed to be in good working order and released back to the field; this may include cleaning robots, replacing broken parts, or fixing damaged parts as reasonably able
- all robots and/or parts that move through the Shed must be confirmed to work and function properly before transferring robots to usable inventory
- scrap and breakdown robots deemed unsalvageable to individual components and provide final disposition of those individual parts & components
Test, Troubleshoot, Document
- provide feedback to relevant teams, including Denmark development & production teams, for any findings or consistent issues that come to light during testing
- implement various data collection methods during the testing & troubleshooting process, maintaining thorough records of the findings/results
- assist in creating content to be used internally and externally for the Turf Tank team and customers as it relates to common maintenance & repair items, or general robot anatomy. This should include videos, tutorials, written documentation, etc.
Returns Management
- perform the physical RMA & product warranty inbound process for returning product; maintaining clear disposition of RMAs in collaboration with the Warehouse and Supply Chain team
- test product warranty returns with urgency and provide a final inventory disposition in order to maintain low Work-in-Process inventory levels inside the Shed
- communicate with Warehouse and Shed leadership on outstanding RMAs for product not yet returned so that decisions can be made for customer accountability
Inventory Management
- ensure inventory accuracy for The Shed via ERP/WMS transactions in real time
- conduct weekly, monthly, and quarterly inventory counts in accordance with team KPIs
- maintain strict protocols for the movement of Demo inventory, spare part inventory, refurbished inventory, and non-inventory transactions in & out of the Shed at all times
Warehouse (assisting 15% of time)
Inbound/Receiving
- receive inbound freight and provide an accurate count within two (2) hours of receiving product complete with all necessary documents
- stock all received product in proper warehouse bin locations
- organize all returned product to keep separate from new inventory and shed inventory
- break down paint pallets into stock customer quantities to be racked and properly put away
Order Processing
- process orders submitted via the WMS and ERP systems
- use all tools provided to ensure proper boxing, packaging, and shipping of orders
- safely operate pallet jack and forklift to efficiently stock and pull product
- stage robot & paint orders based on package designation
- work closely with warehouse leadership to accomplish daily priorities & objectives
- follow any and all safety protocols at all times
Inventory
- assist in maintaining accurate inventory levels in the warehouse through weekly counts
- report any warehouse inventory discrepancies to leadership and provide support through discrepancy research and reconciliation
Product Support (10% of time)
External Customer Support
- assist customers in times of urgent need by troubleshooting robot issues in real time when Ops or TSA support is unable to assist
- document and communicate issues and resolutions back to Support team and Field Ops for future needs, as well as any relevant findings back to Denmark development team
Internal Team Member Support
- provide product knowledge and support to Turf Tank team members as a last line of defense to aid them in taking care of customer issues; this may occur via phone calls, company chats, or virtual meetings.
- assist the Support team with hands-on, mechanical troubleshooting of robot issues in the Shed
- provide available demo & courtesy robots in reasonable working order for Sales, Field Ops, and customers when necessary
- monitor support chats at certain times to stay in tune with frequent product issues that can guide regular testing, troubleshooting, & maintenance decisions for the Shed
Communication
- maintain consistent communication with Leadership, Sales Reps, Field Ops Reps, and Customers with various product issues & updates
- meet one-on-one with leadership to discuss personal goals, growth, strategy, progress, metrics, etc.
- attend necessary team meetings to collaborate, receive operations updates, training, strategy updates, etc.
Qualifications
The Robot Maintenance Technician must…
- currently have or obtain a forklift certification
- hold a valid driver’s license
- have high attention to detail
- be able to work independently
- have excellent attendance and punctuality (entirely on-site)
- be comfortable with using various computer programs
- have a general knowledge of warehouse-related safety guidelines
- have 2-3 years of recent forklift and warehouse experience
Physical requirements for the Robot Maintenance Technician:
- able to lift 60 lbs throughout the shift
- able to stand for the entire shift
- able to work while stooping, squatting, and bending
