Job Summary

The Pharmacy Delivery Driver is responsible for delivering medications and supplies to facilities in a timely and professional manner. This role plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient distribution of pharmaceutical products to residents at senior living facilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Medication Delivery:
  • Safely transport medications, medical supplies, and other pharmacy products to nursing homes, and assisted living facilities.
  • Follow designated delivery routes and schedules to ensure timely and efficient service.
• Customer Service:
  • Provide friendly and courteous service to pharmacy customers upon delivery, including greeting customers, confirming delivery details, and answering questions.
  • Assist customers with the proper handling and storage of delivered medications and supplies as needed.
• Delivery Verification:
  • Verify the accuracy of delivered items against delivery manifests, invoices, or electronic records to ensure completeness and correctness of orders.
  • Report any discrepancies or issues with deliveries to the pharmacy staff for resolution.
• Vehicle Maintenance and Safety:
  • Perform routine vehicle inspections to ensure the safe operation of delivery vehicles, including checking tires, brakes, lights, and fluid levels.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and safety guidelines while driving and operating delivery vehicles.
• Documentation and Recordkeeping:
  • Maintain accurate delivery logs, including records of delivered items, customer signatures, and delivery times.
  • Document any delivery exceptions, delays, or incidents for reporting and quality assurance purposes.
• Communication:
  • Communicate effectively with pharmacy staff regarding delivery schedules, customer requests, and special instructions.
  • Notify pharmacy staff of any delivery issues, delays, or concerns promptly.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• A valid driver's license and clean driving record are required.
• Experience in delivery driving or related field preferred.

• Knowledge of local roads, neighborhoods, and delivery routes.
• Excellent navigation and time management skills.

Working Conditions

• Works in office area(s), warehouse, pharmacy, and some positions work in a long-term care environment (i.e. nursing home, drug rooms, nurses’ stations, resident rooms, etc.).
• Moves intermittently during working hours.
• Is subject to frequent interruptions.
• Is involved with customers, and customer representatives, family members, residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.
• Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel, and visitors.
• Communicate with the designated facility staff, nursing personnel, residents, or family members.
• Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
• Is subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
• Is involved in community/civic health matters/projects as appropriate.
• Attends and participates in continuing educational programs.
• Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.
• Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS, COVID-19, and Hepatitis B viruses.
• May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.

Education

Must possess and maintain any and all necessary active and unencumbered certifications, degrees, or licenses in the necessary state, to the extent the position requires such certifications, degrees, or licenses.
