The Assistant Supervisor of Logistics is responsible for daily operations of the Facilities’ warehouses: receiving, stocking, issuing, and delivery of stock items. Responsible for ensuring warehouse is adequately maintained and inventory supplies are appropriate levels. Tracks and records all movement of materials into and out of the warehouse. General housekeeping of the warehouse area. Takes periodic physical inventory of warehouse. Driver for pickups and deliveries. Provides front-line customer relations and will perform a variety of tasks associated with the receipt, sorting, and distribution of all mail and parcels. They assist in the preparation and completion of outbound mail and parcels to all carriers. These activities are completed in a dependable, professional, safe, and timely manner.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Must have a valid and unrestricted (not including corrective lens needs) U.S. Driver’s license and must meet the Tulane University Motor Vehicle Policy criteria to become authorized as a driver
- Ability to lift and place materials up to a weight of 50 pounds.
- Ability to utilize computer-based software programs for purchase, distribution, and inventory control of parts stock, parcels, mail and other materials.
- Ability to utilize Tulane’s e-procurement software to place inventory replenishment orders.
- Ability to climb ladders up to 6’ in height and flights of stairs.
- Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions with simple diagrams.
- Ability to work independently and perform well with group assigned tasks.
- Position may require late evening, weekend, and holiday working hours.
- Extra overtime hours may be required during peak volume periods.
Essential Personnel” Position:
This is an “Essential Personnel” position which can require that the incumbent must report for duty and work through emergencies, and also can be designated by the supervisor as essential for the accomplishment of work, or for the completion of a critical task.
Required Education and/or Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 2 years purchasing and warehouse experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous warehouse experience
- Ability to operate 3,000 pound electric forklift
- Position is located in a non-smoking work area.
- Good communication and personal relations skills.
