The Center for Patient Placement serves as the hub for access, staffing, and clinical supervision. The Central Staffing Office (CSO) allocates supplemental staffing to all areas of the hospital inclusive of licensed and unlicensed care providers for adult and pediatric specialties in medical, surgical, specialty care and critical care areas.
Schedule: 40 hours per week on evening/night rotation and every other weekend.
Job Profile Summary
This role focuses on providing professional and nonprofessional nursing care services in accordance with physician orders. In addition, this role focuses on performing the following Nursing Support duties: Provides basic care services to patients, but does not have an RN or LPN license. Positions in this nursing support work under the direction of physicians, mid-level practitioners, and may work under the direction of registered nurses depending on their unit. An organizational related support or service (administrative or clerical) role or a role that focuses on support of daily business activities (e.g., technical, clinical, non-clinical) operating in a "hands on" environment. The majority of time is spent in the delivery of support services or activities, typically under supervision. A specialist level role that requires very advanced knowledge of operational procedures and tools obtained through extensive work experience and may require vocational or technical education. Works under limited supervision for non-routine situations and may be responsible for leading daily operations, and trains, delegates and reviews the work of lower level employees, and problems are typically difficult and non-routine but not complex.
Job Overview
Under the direction of the Nurse Manager of the Central Staffing Office, this position performs central staffing office functions. This includes monitoring census and staffing, acting as a resource to nurse managers and administrative clinical managers with respect to supplemental staffing, handling all communications of the staffing office. Works closely with the administrative clinical managers during the off-shift and weekend/holiday hours.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. High School diploma or equivalent.
2. Three (3) years of healthcare administration experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
1.Five (5) years of healthcare administration experience
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities listedbelow are intended to describe the general nature of work and are not intended to be an all-inclusive list. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
1.Handles all telephone communication for the central staffing office.
2.Maintains current census and unit staffing system.
3.Coordinates and performs supplemental staffing activities in conjunction with nursing units in a safe, timely and effective manner. This includes arranging coverage for vacation, ill time, leaves of absence and vacancies.
4.Schedules patient observers.
5.Assists in maintaining departmental reports as requested.
6.Performs payroll/budget-related activities as designated by the nursing central staffing office manager.
7.Keypunches salary adjustments, FTE changes, termination and new hires within staffing and scheduling database.
8.Performs filing.
9.Maintains nursing licensure lists.
10. Maintains updated disaster lists.
11.Acts as liaison to information systems to coordinate manual procedures when information system is off-line.
12.Orders and rents equipment and monitors use daily.
13.Maintains the functions of the staffing office as required.
14.Maintains collaborative team relationships with peers and colleagues in order to effectively contribute to the working group's achievement of goals, and to help foster a positive work environment
Physical Requirements:
1. Some standing & walking, and lifting of 5-10 lbs.
2. Manual dexterity using fine hand manipulation to operate computer keyboard.
3. Ability to see computer screen and reports.
4. Frequent contact with clinical staff and employees in multiple departments.
Skills & Abilities:
1.Excellent organizational skills needed for coordination of staff.
2.Must have strong interpersonal and effective communication skills.
3.Demonstrates good judgement.
4.Computer proficiency, including Excel, Microsoft Word and knowledge of ANSOS preferred.
