Tufco L.P. is Hiring a Line Quality Technician Near Green, WI

Job Summary

Perform quality duties to track, analyze and report on materials, processes and products to ensure that they meet the company and customer’s quality requirements. The duties performed are in accordance with specifications and product/material requirements. Position uses a variety of analytical and precision measuring instruments. Accept/reject decisions are also a part of the everyday routine of the technician. Position reports directly to Operations, however, receives daily work direction and assignments from Quality Assurance/Control.

Essential Functions:

  • Serves as the primary line resource for quality issues and decisions
  • Makes go / no go decisions (or contacts the appropriate people i.e.: Quality Management Team) on material quality issues
  • Monitors Quality and SPC data and notifies operators real time to make appropriate adjustments to equipment using Quality Windows or other appropriate methods
  • Proactively looks for ways to improve product quality and efficiency
  • Provides written and verbal communication to Quality Assurance, Quality Control and Manufacturing personnel via the following: 
    • First Article forms
    • Non-Conforming Material Reports
    • Hourly Reports
    • Logbook entries, etc.
  • Performs the raw material and finished product Hold/Reject process. (Determination and Documentation)
  • Performs finished product evaluations in accordance with the Target – Acceptable – Marginal – Unacceptable (TAMU) criteria
  • Responsible for accurate material issuing and return to stock processes as well as personnel (team building) data into ERP system
  • Assists Manufacturing, Customer Service and Purchasing in the running of raw material and finished product trials and experimental orders
  • Participates in the training of new Quality Technicians
  • Walks the floor and assists manufacturing with any product, material, quality, and process or specification issues (on-line inspections)
  • Gathers the appropriate test results and information available, and uses good judgment regarding quality decisions 
  • Retains collection, traceability and storage
  • Carries out special projects as requested by Quality Management (including research, trials, analysis and the documentation to support the process)
  • Participates in Tufco’s Internal Audit process
  • Performs problem-solving functions as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Proficient math skills
  • Proficient with computer and calculator

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Working knowledge of Quality Windows and Statistical Process Control (SPC) data

Work Requirements:

  • Trained and qualified in the operation of each of the following pieces of equipment and the associated operating procedures, including calibration:
    • Scales/Balances
    • Rulers/Calipers
    • Metal Detector (with maintenance assistance as needed)
    • Check Weigher (with maintenance assistance as needed)
  • Trained and qualified in the following Lab Test methods:
    • Bar code scanning
    • Aseptic technique for swabs and plates (if applicable)
    • Total organic carbon (if applicable)
  • Working knowledge of work orders and bills of materials
  • Understands and complies with all lockout/tagout procedures
  • Works in a safe and ethical manner at all times, and has an excellent safety record
  • Is a self-starter, and works well independently and as a team
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Possesses strong quality awareness
  • Strong analysis, judgment, and decision-making skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Mental/Reasoning 
  • Must possess a positive attitude, willingness to learn and have good attendance
