Tucson Racquet & Fitness Club is Hiring a Lifeguard (Seasonal) Near Tucson, AZ

Job Title: Lifeguard (non-permanent)

Department: Aquatics/Swim

Reports To: Program Director

Salary Range: Starting at $16.75 per/hour

Position Summary:

The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of all Club members and guests in the pool and surrounding area. The guard is responsible to observe swimmers, enforce pool rules and regulations, prevent accidents, administer First Aid when needed and report violations of safety and sanitation practices. 30/60/90 day probation period.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Enforce pool rules and regulations to maintain order.
  • Monitor the pool area, observe swimmers, and warm swimmers of any improper activities and/or hazards to prevent accidents and ensure a safe environment.
  • Keeps pool area clean and orderly. Clear of debris, trip hazards, or other possible injury hazards.
  • Rescue persons in distress or in danger of drowning.
  • Performs resuscitation techniques and renders first aid.
  • Completes Incident/Accident report if Incident/Accident occurs.
  • Monitors weather: closes and reopens pools for lightning danger.
  • Reports any equipment or pool structure in need of repair.
  • Notifies supervisor if a problem or pool closure occurs.
  • Follows Lifeguard Rules and Regulations and Personal Safety Recommendations.

Skills/Requirements:

  • At least 16 years of age
  • Current Red Cross Lifeguarding with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid certification
  • Requires attentiveness to visual and audible cues for recognition and identification of swimmers in distress or in the process of unsafe behavior.
  • Proficient swimming ability
  • Effective communication skills to engage positively with the public
  • Physically able to sit, stand, kneel, stoop, reach, lift

Expectations:

  • Arrive on time to every shift, notify the director if there is a conflict with being able to fulfill a shift.
  • Attempt to cover shift if unable to work it.
  • Wear guard shirt and red swimsuit or board shorts while on duty.
  • Be respectful to members, fellow guards and staff
