Summer is on its way, camp season is around the corner and we want YOU to join the Tucson Country Club Camp Counselors team! Under the supervision of the Camp Director, counselors will be responsible for leading their campers around each day to various coordinated activities and events while keeping them safe and on schedule! Our summer program consists of a variety of sports, swimming, arts & crafts classes, on-site adventures (like Build-a-Bear, Bouncy House Days, petting zoo's, treasure hunts, etc etc) and so much more… all of which our camp counselors help coordinate! Campers range from 4-6 and 7-12. This year's theme is the premiere of our very own curriculum called, The Sticky Lizard Series! Each week our campers follow their groups on different adventures as we go on a summer long treasure expedition! It'll be a summer jam packed with silly activities, fun experiments, happy memories and yes, lots of s'mores!
We ask that applicants be responsible, caring, respectful and energetic! We expect our counselors to show up on time and able to lead a group with confidence and spunk. We need applicants who can also commit to the FULL 8 weeks without any issues if accepting one of the full-time positions. We also require that applicants be at least 18 years of age, are already CPR certified (or can be by the first day of camp), and have some experience in either childcare or previous summer camp counselor positions. A background check and drug test will also be required upon selection for the job.
Hours will normally be 8:30 a.m. – 3/3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday with bonus hours available to those interested in working pre or post care hours or special events (weekend hours are also available for those wanting to get 40 hours). Pay will be hourly, and tips can often be earned when working pre or post care sitter hours (optional)! Hours vary based on need, and schedule can be discussed during the interview process. Camp goes for 8 weeks, starting on June 3rd and extending through July 26th. Training will happen the week prior to camp kicking off, but those willing to train earlier will also have a chance to earn hours before camp begins in late May, early June! Bonus hours will also be available to staff throughout camp and the week after camp ends for those interested. Bonus: This job can also lead to year-round work opportunities if desired with our sitter program and other seasonal camps and most camp counselors return each summer for a guaranteed job spot based on past performance with a raise with each return! This is a great part time gig for college students or teachers who are "off" for the summer and looking to make extra money! Camp Counselors will get the 4th of July off, but have the opportunity to work the evening carnival for time and a half holiday pay!
Hired staff will be required to take part in paid-training before camp to meet their fellow counselors and learn the ropes. Teamwork is very important!
To apply for this job please email your resume along with a short letter describing why you think you would be an awesome addition to our summer team as well as any info you think that would make you uniquely perfect for this position. Email resumes and letters to Kat Keeling. Interviews will begin within a week of job posting, and continue until all positions are filled. Training will begin the last week in May (date and time determined by what works best for all camp counselors). We will be hiring approx. 3-4 camp counselors, 2 of whom will be selected for a Lead Camp Counselor Position starting at a higher pay rate. This job positing will be left up until all spaces are filled.
