Tuality Healthcare is Hiring a Certified Nursing Assistant 2 - CNA2 Near Hillsboro, OR

POSITION SUMMARY

Pay range: $21.35/hr - $29.69/hr CNA2 plus $2.50/hr night shift differential

The CNA II assists with the nursing care of patients. Provides comfort services and assistance with activities of daily living.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Performed majority of the time:

* Provides care appropriate to the age of patients served (neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and assists in care of adult and geriatric patients based on principles of growth and development and life stages, and according to their culture, ethnicity, and belief systems, as directed by the RN, LPN, Supervisor, or Director of Nursing).

* Caring for adolescent, adult and geriatric patients in a knowledgeable and consistent manner.

* Documents in electronic health record and intake / output record when appropriate.

* Reports changes and unexpected findings in patient condition to RN.

* Motivates and assists patients to eat and take fluids.

* Assists with ambulation, lifting, and transferring patients from stretcher to bed, bed to wheelchair.

* Provides patients and family members with effective encouragement and support.

* Assists, supports and acknowledges other team members.

* Utilizes appropriate problem solving methods to deal with conflict.

* Utilizes current CDC Guidelines for infection control.

* Carries out orders and treatments as directed by the RN or LPN:

o Provides skin care to prevent skin breakdown.

o Collects specimens

o Measures intake and output and percent of food consumed.

o Records vital signs, weight and ADL's.

o Applies binders, ace bandages, and non-sterile compresses.

o Applies vaginal pads.

o Applies Aqua-K pads, ice bags, and collars.

o Provides appropriate bowel care, including ostomy care.

o Provides post-mortem care.

o Discharges and transfers patients, assists in admissions.

o Provides catheter care and peri-care.

o Assists with sterile dressing changes and application of cast.

o Prepares patient for surgery.

o Performs range of motion and patient positioning techniques, as directed.

o Changes bed linens.

o Assists patient with personal hygiene, grooming, and dressing.

o Performs personal services such as operating TV, radio and recreational therapy projects.

o Assists with transportation of patients, supplies, etc. as requested.

o Performs BLS or other duties in an emergency situation as directed by licensed staff.

* After appropriate training and competency verification, may be assigned these additional tasks as defined by OAR 851-060-0930 and specifically designated by the director of nursing to the unit to which the CNA is assigned.

o May perform bedside glucose testing when competency program completed and if desired by work area.

o Change simple, nonsterile dressings using aseptic technique when no wound debridement or packing is involved.

o Suction oral pharynx.

o Turn oxygen off and on at predetermined, established flow rate.

o Attach and detach established pulse oximeter.

o Discontinue peripheral IV catheters.

o Administer douches.

o Perform clean intermittent straight urinary catheterization for chronic conditions.

o Collect clean-catch urine specimens.

o Discontinue external urinary catheters.

o Set up traction equipment.

o Clean ostomy site and change dressings or appliances for established, non-acute ostomies.

o Add fluid to established tube feedings and change established tube feeding bags.

o Apply topical OTC creams and ointments for prophylactic treatment of skin conditions.

o Insert OTC suppositories for bowel care.

o Insert OTC vaginal suppositories and vaginal cream.

Performed occasionally but critical to successful performance of the job:

* May be assigned to function as a "Nursing Technician" where the above duties would be assigned house wide rather than on a specific unit.

* Participates in in-services, conferences, designated meetings and continuing education programs.

* American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS preferred upon hire, and required within 90 days of hire.

o If not American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certified upon hire, must have current BLS certification through another provider.
