TTM Technologies - North America is Hiring a Lab Technician - Dry Lab - 2nd Shift Near Santa Ana, CA

Scope:
The lab tech’s responsibility is to provide cross-section analysis on all final product to certify that the structural integrity of the printed circuit boards meet the customer requirements. After cross-sectioning either coupons or boards, the lab tech will generate a report that can be sent to the customer that provides information relating to the structural integrity of the lay-up and processing of the final product.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Preparation of final cross sections from each work order.
  • Grinding machine preparation of cross sections.
  • Perform thermal stress/shock and solderability tests on microsection coupons and/or boards.
  • Maintaining traceability of cross section to product lot and panel source.
  • Proper setup, use, cleaning, and shutdown of microsection equipment.
  • Evaluation of cross sections to the IPC, military, or customer/drawing requirements for final quality.
  • Report generation of microsection analysis.
  • Maintenance of archived microsection reports-hard copies and electronic copies.
  • Maintenance of archived microsections.
  • Control of lot status, including segregation of passed, failed, and inspected product.
  • Immediate and thorough communication with appropriate personnel for product disposition if cross-sections fail to meet customer requirements, including the segregation of specific panels/serial numbers of boards stationed in test, final inspection, and/or shipping.
  • Microsection inventory control.
  • Prioritize Microsection workload accordingly.
  • Failure analysis of product as needed.
  • Other microsection analysis of in-process coupons, boards, or additional final product as requested by various personnel (including quality engineering, process engineering, etc.) to support the review of other products being manufactured.
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively employees of other departments concerning the disposition of cross-sections.
  • Must have the ability to perform the basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide). Also must be able to understand the ability to round-off numbers to the proper digit as identified on the blueprints.
  • Must be able to understand and use the computer and basic software to generate reports, printout reports, take photos of cross-sections and save to the network. Must be able to send e-mails to appropriate personnel with attached photos as necessary.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Must have very good concentration, must be able remain focused with minor interruptions.
  • Must have ability to pass eye exam with a minimum 20/20 vision that may be corrected via eye glasses or contact lenses as required. Eye exam is required annually.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One to three months related experience and/or training
Export Statement:
Must comply with TTM Export Control Policies and Procedures and all applicable laws including ITAR, EAR and OFAC including but not limited to: a) being able to identify ITAR product on the manufacturing floor and understand that access to these products and related technical data is restricted to only US Citizens and US Permanent Residents; b) recognition of Foreign Person visitors by badge differentiation; c) understand and follow authorization procedures for bringing foreign visitors into facilities (VAL); d) understand the Export and ITAR requirements for shipments leaving the US; e) manage vendor approvals for ITAR manufacturing and services.
