Description

Since its beginning in 1946, TST has evolved into a vertically integrated producer, buyer, trader and processor of aluminum scrap and dross.

Today, TST is one of the major American producers of secondary aluminum ingot, billet and cast plate. TST is also a major distributor of primary aluminum foundry ingot, grain refiners and hardeners. Other services include worldwide trading of nonferrous scrap and other aluminum commodities.

SUMMARY

Using measuring tools inspects products at final inspection phase process and compiles statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains and updates records.
  • Clean material with acetone (degreaser), and deburr all sharp edges
  • Visually inspects product integrity: surface quality, holes, cracks, porosity, inclusions, squareness, broken corners and flatness.
  • Tape measure all mold, length, width and thickness. Measured tolerance utilizing a micrometer.
  • Verify thin gauge plates with micrometer to determine thickness to customer’s request of thickness, length, and width.
  • Reports and discusses any flaws detected with supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Management

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years quality inspection experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 months experience of Forklift operation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of reading a tape measure and micrometer.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English language.
  • Near Vision: Jaegar (Type 1 or equivalent)
  • Color Vision: Must be able to distinguish and differentiate between colors used during the product acceptance/certification process.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical interference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Wide variety of routine tasks that involve some choice of action within limits.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to stand for long periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee may also occasionally throughout the day be lifting and pounding with a 5 pound rubber mallet. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and extreme heat.
