Position Summary: The Clinic License Vocational Nurse is an essential member of the health care team, who is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and coordinating the care of patients, aged six months throughout the life span. The LVN will work collaboratively with the Physician to provide safe, knowledgeable, compassionate, educative, individualized and goal directed nursing care to patients and their families in the clinic. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Interacts with administrative and clinical staff including front desk, medical records, nursing, and ancillary services (when applicable) to ensure maximum utilization of resources and the efficient delivery of services.
  • Oversees the day-to-day clinic activities and schedule in an effort to reduce patient wait times.
  • Assists physician to ensure clinic runs smoothly and on time.
  • Schedules patients for surgery and advises patients of pre-surgical requirements to include laboratory orders and/or x-rays.
  • Advises patients of co-payment, co-insurance or other out-of-pocket expenses prior to surgery and refers patient to a financial counselor when necessary.
  • Maintains surgical schedule and serves as liaison between staff and authorization department.
  • Enters surgical/clinical charges into Athena
  • Coordinates scheduling of patient testing, ensuring follow-up appointments with physician are scheduled.
  • Documents patient phone calls, prescription refill messages, and obtains physician signature.
  • Manages clinical risk issues for patients/physician.
  • Ensures patient phone calls are retrieved and returned in a timely manner.
  • Works with Medical Administrative Assist on phone and Athena documentation tasks (buckets).
  • Monitors and works Hold buckets on Athena Dashboard, assists Professional Reimbursement Department on resolving open claims.
  • Addresses concerns and/or complaints from patients, vendors, and staff members; escalates to Clinic Manager as needed.
  • Analyzes average patient wait times and makes recommendations for improvement as needed.
  • Coordinates Physician meeting schedules, to include finding solutions where scheduling conflicts may exist.
  • Coordinates On-Call rounding lists of patients.
  • Ensures regulatory compliance and reports any issues to Clinic Manager as they arise.

What You'll Need:

  • Current state licensure as Licensed Vocational Nurse. Current Basic Life Support Certification (required) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (PALS) preferred.
  • Minimum of one-year surgical, critical care, PACU, recovery room, and or outpatient surgery experience.
  • Knowledge and understanding of physical and emotional disease processes, clinical nursing skills, and administration of medications. IV certification skills needed. Able to assess abnormal EKG. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to verbalize understanding of the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, discharge teaching, and evaluation.
  • Other duties as assigned as necessary and may vary at times, as needed, by your immediate supervisor or as directed by the company. 
  •  Requirements extensive mobility walking and standing while performing duties. Periodic pushing, pulling, and lifting of patients and/or equipment. May have exposure to patients with communicable diseases, hazardous equipment, or agents. Hours will vary with surgical schedule needs.
