This IT Solutions Architect will report up through ISC's the Application & Information Services (AIS) Group, which is responsible for planning, acquiring, developing, and maintaining the university’s core business and student support systems. In addition, AIS provides access to University data via ISC's Data Warehouse and Data Analytics services. This position will play a proactive and comprehensive role on the AIS Framework and Tools team by collaboratively leading, overseeing, and supporting activities that shape the development and management of a diverse portfolio of solutions across the university. This portfolio encompasses projects, systems, data, and processes spanning various domains, including but not limited to: Students systems, Enterprise Information and Analytics, and Institutional Research. Job Description Primary Responsibilities and Duties: Define, develop, and drive the implementation of enterprise architecture standards and best practices. Identify and evaluate application platforms, technologies, tools, frameworks and recommend the cost-effective, secure technical architecture to support operational efficiency, scalability and align with the University mission, vision, and long-term objectives. Collaboratively design, model, develop and implement enterprise-level systems and applications, ensuring seamless integration across the University Ecosystem. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including data privacy and industry-specific regulations, working closely with the Office of Information Security and other key constituents. Offer technical guidance and support to development team, fostering a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement. Stay current on emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential impact and value to the organization. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field and a minimum of 3 to 5 years of IT experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of four years of experience in at least one IT solution development disciplines, including technical or infrastructure architecture, application development, middleware, database management, or cloud development. Proven experience in understanding user requirements, translating requirements into software designs and/or selecting appropriate vendor solutions. In-depth experience with relational databases, end-to-end integrated systems, and designing architecture for high availability applications is crucial. Proficient in process redesign, systems analysis/design, and a record of designing and implementing large-scale multi-tier web-based applications. Sound foundation of software development life cycle and processes, including Waterfall, Agile, source code control, testing and deployment strategies, and change management. In-depth comprehension of object-oriented analysis and design principles, standards-based APIs, enterprise service bus, microservices architecture, message queues, application containers, serverless computing, relational databases, and application security principles is necessary. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic higher-ed environment. Excellent communication and people skills. Must exercise considerable independent and professional judgment, with proficiency in time management and meeting deadlines and flexibility with changing priorities. Preferred: Familiarity with cloud development and deployment capabilities, as well as experience with Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift is highly desired. Passion for learning about innovative technologies, tools, and innovative approaches to providing solutions. Knowledge of Business Architecture Guild (BIZBOK) and The Open Architecture Framework (TOGAF) or another architectural framework is a plus.
