Onsite Buyer

Material Management Services-Xylem — Location Morton Grove, IL

Material Management Services, Inc. has a fantastic opportunity for an onsite Buyer who can deliver results by identifying, implementing and documenting purchases with cost savings for our client. This position is responsible for all daily activities related to the clients’ indirect materials needs. This position is primarily a position focused on customer service and the Buyer will provide financial cost savings for the client, be successful in meeting and exceeding client expectations and ensure the client’s perception of our worthiness to their objectives and results.

Responsibilities:

• Sourcing, purchasing, negotiating and expediting all MRO commodities at the customer’s facility.

• Ensure that all requisitions and other purchase documents comply with established processes, policies and procedures.
• Review supplier capabilities and pricing and secure the most favorable pricing and delivery schedules available.
• Source materials and place purchase orders with specified suppliers for materials and services.

• Track, document, and Report cost savings
• Track and report all return on investment (ROI) savings
• Manage inventory reductions at plant

• Maintain office files and computer records to show history, price, status, etc. of all materials and transactions.
• Maintain monthly reports and comprehensive and accurate inventory records as assigned. Maintain inventory for indirect materials to meet stated goals or inventory turns and cycle counts while maintaining maintenance and facilities schedules.
• Establish positive and productive daily contact with the customer. Inquire into MMS level of service and performance or problems. Investigate problems for root cause, provide solutions to the customer and feedback to the MMS TEAM.

• Participate as needed in meetings, presentations, and planning

• Maintain confidentiality regarding MMS internal communication.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• High School diploma and equivalent related experience. Two-year Associate degree preferred.
• Related sourcing, purchasing, negotiating and expediting experience for MRO, automotive and industrial products and services.
• Strong interpersonal skills, customer service skills and communication skills.
• Proven negotiation skills.
• Ability to balance quality as well as be relentless in the pursuit of a better price.
• Leadership and teambuilding skills. Team and process oriented.
• Creative, adaptable to new situations.
• Proficient PC skills with the ability to operate MS Office, mainframe applications and databases.
• Ability to be cross trained and assist in continued, uninterrupted service during absences.
• Ability to meet or exceed deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously.
