The Opportunity:
We're looking for an outstanding Lead Product Designer to join our team. You will work closely with the Product Design/UX team, Product leads, engineers, and leadership in the development of critical TrueCar products. You will have influence on major company objectives and be expected to solve difficult design problems, cross-platform. You'll design mobile-first but also understand the rigors of responsive/adaptive web design. You are a gifted interaction designer with a strong UI aesthetic and have the ability to translate your vision not only into beautiful designs but into functional prototypes to demonstrate interactions and real-world feel. How you will contribute to TrueCar's success:
Help define what's next for TrueCar—as a product, a business, and a company
Lead the design vision for our core products, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and user experience.
Uplevel other designers' vision work and drive vision for the broadest, farthest-looking projects in the organization
See gaps in how our visual system works and uplevel it
Leverage your knowledge of the industry to define new patterns and norms when needed; your work has an impact beyond TrueCar
Peer designers look to you for help and guidance on visual design, and you regularly offer feedback to improve work outside your own
Collaborate with Product leads, engineers, executives, and other stakeholders to craft compelling user experiences from concept to completion
Translate broad, conceptual ideas into practical and elegant designs
Create intuitive design flows, leveraging interactive prototyping to bring visions to life
Conduct frequent and thorough usability research to validate concepts, sharing findings with the team to inform decision-making
Actively seek and provide feedback from fellow designers, stakeholders, and users, consistently elevating the quality of designs through collaborative refinement
Stay updated on advancements in interaction design and contemporary design patterns in support of our master asset library
Coach other designers on prioritization, managing dependencies, and requirements definition
Partner with our leads in data and research to identify ways of improving TrueCar's overall practices around them
Your Expertise:
Internalize and align with the company strategy and vision, focusing on both aesthetics and functionality
Possess a robust portfolio featuring examples of visual and interactive product design work
Demonstrate strong organizational and analytical thinking skills, with the ability to translate complex requirements into user scenarios, flows, and diagrams
Have a proven track record of effective collaboration with cross-functional teams
Exhibit self-motivation and a passion for solving complex problems; you frequently suggest and execute extra projects outside of core responsibilities
Communicate effectively with excellent verbal and written skills, capable of defending design decisions
Utilize methodologies such as Agile, Design Thinking, and Lean UX in your work
Primary experience designing for mobile web (adaptive/responsive tablet, desktop), appreciated experience in app design
Expert in Figma and Figma prototyping tools; adept in Adobe
Working understanding of web code (HTML, CSS, JS)
Familiarity with research tools such as Lyssna, and FullStory et al.
Willingness to occasionally travel as requested
Base salary range: $144,000 - $216,000
