If you love children and have a passion for food, the True North Classical Academy’s School Food
and Nutrition program may be the right place for you to serve up delicious and nutritious meals to the
“future”, our students. Working in school food service offers many opportunities for preparing healthy
foods but generally requires little in the ways of skills and specialized experience to get started. On-
the-job training will be provided.
Job Tasks
1. Preparation of schools’ meals and including correct portioning and serving required for the
program
2. Operating food service equipment such as serving line, convection oven, tilting skillet, warming
ovens
3. Assist with inspection, inventory, receiving, and delivery of food and supplies
4. Serve meals to students and assists other food service employees while providing customer
service excellence
5. Adhere to sanitary and safe procedures for handling foods including keeping a clean kitchen,
equipment, and facilities
6. Willing to be trained and to perform all other duties pertinent to the food service operation
Job Requirements
* Physical activities include, but not limited to, bending, reaching, standing for long periods of time
(4 – 6 hours) , lifting (30 pound minimum without assistance) and walking
* Must have the ability to read, write, and understand instructions for preparing recipes and
standard operating procedures and monitoring documents *High School diploma preferred but not required. Ability to read instructions and recipes to perform
duties
*Work well under pressure in a team environment
Schedule: Monday – Friday, Day shift and part time hours (4 – 6 hours daily)
