Position
True North Classical Academies are high-achieving classical schools in Miami, FL. Our High school has emerged as one of the top schools in Miami in a short period. We are seeking a College Counselor to join our exceptional team. The College Counselor will work directly with the Director of College Success and College Success Team in implementing a comprehensive program that promotes and enhances academic, personal, social and career development for students in their respective grade levels. The goal of the college success team is to ensure all True North scholars apply to eight colleges and receive acceptance and competitive financial aid package at the best match possible. The college counselor will help students evaluate their abilities, interests, and talents to develop academic and career goals. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for the mission of True North, an understanding and respect for our culture, and experience working in a school setting that fosters a love for learning.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Own caseload of students supporting their entire college application process from college research to matriculation
Educate students on the application process through group workshops, class presentations and individual meetings
Identify potential scholarship opportunities for the students
Facilitate the financial aid process and assist seniors with completing necessary forms
Support students in learning their strengths and building academic and personal skills
Assist students with crafting, developing, revising and submitting essays and personal statements
Processing college application paperwork and writing letters of recommendation for admissions and scholarships
Network with colleges, including travel to schools and hosting admissions reps and attending regional and national conferences
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualification, Skills, and Knowledge Requirement
Knowledge of the college process and passion for supporting others
Preferred experience as a College Counselor
Must have strong organizational and communication skills, verbal and written
Ability to work with parents, students, faculty, and support staff
Ability to plan, organize, and implement meetings involving a variety of topics and personnel
Candidates must see education as a vocation and are willing to go above and beyond the call of duty for the success of all students.
