Tru by Hilton Christiansburg is Hiring a Front Desk Agent Near Christiansburg, VA

We are looking for a team player with great customer service skills, a smile, and who absolutely LOVES people to join our hotel front desk team!

Purpose of this position: You will help to create an excellent and memorable stay for our guests by welcoming and serving each person with exceptional service either in person or by phone and ensuring that guests are checked in and out in a friendly and timely manner.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Meets and exceeds Guest and team member expectations by providing exceptional service and teamwork by:

-Providing value-added service to Guests by doing whatever is reasonable and possible to meet or exceed Guest expectations.

-Communicating effectively with Guests, co-workers, and supervisors.

-Demonstrating teamwork by cooperating and assisting co-workers as needed.

-Handling difficult situations effectively.

-Greet and welcome all guests approaching the Front Desk in accordance with Hilton standards; maintain a friendly and warm demeanor at all times.

-Answer guest inquiries about hotel service facilities and hours of operation.

-Obtain all necessary information when taking room reservations and follow rate quoting scenario.

-Be familiar with all policies and house rules as well as hospitality terminology.

-Have knowledge of and assist in emergency procedures as required.

-Fully comprehend and be able to operate all relevant aspects of the Front Desk computer system.

-Have the confidence and self-ownership to offer service recovery appropriately within hotel-set parameters.

-Maintain an up-to-date working knowledge of all property amenities as well as any special events local area attractions and things to do around the hotel.

-Perform other duties as assigned which may include but is not limited to the following: helping coworkers in other areas of the hotel maintaining a clean and organized work area and overall cleanliness and safety throughout the hotel and grounds

-Ensures Guests receive hospitable service at the front desk by communicating clearly and courteously.

-Receiving cash/credit transactions from Guests for payment of hotel charges and making correct change.

-Maintains proper working environment between departments by communication with the Housekeeping Department regarding Guest rooms and requests and communicating with the Engineering Department regarding any maintenance requests from Guests.

-Adheres to Hotel policies and procedures by following hotel grooming and dress standards, following all safety and security procedures and rules, participating in monthly department meetings/training, hotel-wide meetings, arriving to work on time, clocking in, and upholding the hotel’s principles.

-Contributes to the security and profitability of the Hotel.

Qualifications:

1. A high school diploma is required. A degree or equivalent experience is preferred.

2. Previous Hotel experience preferred.

3. Pleasant, outgoing, flexible, creative, team player, able to work independently, and service-orientated.

4. Friendly, hospitality-oriented personality.

5. Computer aptitude and organizational skills.

6. Neat, professional appearance.

7. Takes a strong personal interest in Guest satisfaction.

8. Effective time management skills.

9. High energy level and stamina

10. Ability to complete work accurately, timely, and neatly.

11. Input, access and retrieve information from a computer.

12. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

13. Use basic arithmetic to check totals and make change.

14. Possess effective problem solving skills, listening skills, and great attention to detail.

15. Able to stand for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours)

16. Work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekdays, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

17. Lift, push, pull, bend, carry, turn, and balance up to 50/75 lbs.

18. Conduct oneself professionally under all circumstances

19. Work in a fast pace environment

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $14.75 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
