The Opportunity:

This position will be an integral part of our team and will be involved in many aspects of the company to keep the sales, pre-construction, and production aspects running seamlessly. You will assist the team with the initial estimating of design concepts, final pricing with complete plans, pricing client change orders, issuing trade partner purchase orders, and the timely purchase of materials.

Responsibilities:

• Work with our in-house designers and sales team to provide accurate cost estimates during pre-design and post-design.
• Work with the Team to complete the estimating program using existing cost codes.
• Using our cloud-based software, prepare project specifications, develop, release, and manage bid requests
• Generate material takeoffs and bids for vendors, enter data, verify the accuracy, and maintain information for custom options
• Create and release purchase orders and material orders for all construction starts
• Create job start packages for each job and release them to the construction team
• Assist with recruiting and onboarding new trade partners, vendors, and material suppliers
• Price client change orders, process them through our cloud-based system, and ensure our internal team, trade partners, and material suppliers are aware of the changes
• Issue variance purchase orders to all trades for any approved changes in price before work is performed 
• Assist in providing feedback and identifying opportunities to improve costs and timelines

Required Qualifications:

• Relevant training and certification with a residential cost estimating department or organization is recommended, but not required.
• Proven experience working in a similar capacity with either a homebuilder, remodeler, general contractor or a residential trade/supplier
• Knowledge of the residential construction industry including construction costs, materials, products, methods, and procedures in Arizona is preferred.
• Must have experience preparing detailed construction cost estimates
• Understand trade partner scopes of work to confirm they include everything needed for each project.
• Ability to communicate with Trade Partners and Suppliers consistently to address and foresee labor, pricing, and material availability changes of their materials and services.
• The ability to work well in a supportive team environment is essential for this position
• Ability to review, analyze, and interpret information as well as troubleshoot and problem solve
• Thorough knowledge of the trades, vendors, and equipment needed to complete an addition or remodeling project with the experience to identify opportunities for improvement
• A high level of understanding of blueprints, construction drawings, specifications, and other construction documents is essential
• Experience with performing and verifying takeoffs and unit cost-based purchasing
• Ability to multitask and prioritize several tasks without compromising the quality of work or project deadlines
• Ability to demonstrate leadership skills and possess above-average written and oral communication skills.
• Proven organization skills in a high-paced work environment
• Must be technology savvy and proficient with Microsoft Office including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience operating cloud-based software is helpful
• Must have competence in collecting, organizing, interpreting, and deriving accurate cost estimates from data across multiple projects
• Actual hands-on experience in a trade is a plus
• Teachable, positive attitude, TEAM-oriented, results-focused.

Salary and Benefits:

• Starting salary of $65,000 per year, commensurate with the required experience.
