Position: K-7 Summer School Teacher for ELD Students

Location: Troy Union Elementary

Reports to: Program Supervisor

Salary: 81 Hours @ $30/hour plus $500 Grant Stipend

Qualifications:

• Valid Michigan teaching certificate K-5

• Early childhood teaching experience preferred

• Experience with beginner students who are English learners

• Elementary classroom teaching experience

• Knowledge and ability to implement a balanced literacy program

Description:

The primary responsibility of the teacher is to provide English language instruction, acculturation and content instruction to
English learners. The program has been designed specifically to accelerate the language proficiency of English learners.
Teachers are also responsible for coordinated the ELD para-educator’s responsibilities and providing a complete report of the
delivery of services at the end of the program. Teachers involved will be provided with materials to implement the program.
Each teacher will have the assistance of an ELD para-educator. The program is 5 weeks, beginning on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 and
ending on Thursday, August 8, 2023. Teachers will be expected to attend two meetings before the program begins. Staff
hours are 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Student hours are 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. The program runs Tuesday-Thursday.
