Troup ISD is Hiring a Health Science Teacher- Part time Near Troup, TX

Job Title: Part-Time Health Science Teacher

Location: Troup High School

Position Type: Part-Time, Contract

Job Summary: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Part-Time Health Science Teacher to join our high school faculty. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health science education, a commitment to student success, and the ability to inspire and engage students in the field of healthcare. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the academic and personal growth of our students while preparing them for future careers in healthcare-related fields.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and deliver engaging and comprehensive lesson plans in health science topics, including but not limited to Principles of Health Science, Medical Terminology, and Practicum in Health Science.
  2. Utilize a variety of instructional methods and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities, fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
  3. Integrate real-world applications, hands-on activities, and technology into lessons to enhance student understanding and retention of course material.
  4. Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback and support to help students achieve academic success.
  5. Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum, share best practices, and participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching effectiveness.
  6. Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and community stakeholders through effective communication and involvement in school events and activities.
  7. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other relevant data, adhering to school policies and procedures.
  8. Stay current with advancements in the field of health science education and incorporate relevant updates and trends into curriculum and instruction.
  9. Participate in department meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other school-related functions as required.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned by the school administration to support the overall mission and goals of the school.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Science, Education, or related field
  • Prior teaching experience at the high school level preferred.
  • Knowledge of current educational trends, instructional strategies, and assessment techniques.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Passion for working with adolescents and a commitment to their academic and personal growth.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Proficiency in technology tools and applications for instructional purposes.

Preferred Qualifications (Addition):

  • Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) with current, valid licensure in the state.
  • Certification and experience in Electrocardiogram (EKG) administration and interpretation, Phlebotomy, and Patient Care Technician (PCT) training.
  • Ability to provide instruction and hands-on training to students seeking certification in Certified Medical Assistant, EKG, Phlebotomy, and PCT.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in healthcare training and certification.
  • Experience working in clinical settings or healthcare education preferred.

Additional Responsibilities (Addition): 

  1. Facilitate skill labs and clinical experiences for students pursuing certification in EKG, Phlebotomy, and PCT, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and standards.
  2. Provide guidance and mentorship to students as they prepare for certification exams, offering support and resources to help them succeed.
  3. Collaborate with healthcare professionals and industry partners to enhance experiential learning opportunities and ensure alignment with industry standards and requirements.
  4. Maintain accurate records of student certification progress, including clinical hours, skills competency assessments, and certification exam results.
  5. Stay abreast of changes in certification requirements, industry trends, and regulatory updates related to EKG, Phlebotomy, and PCT training, adjusting curriculum and instruction accordingly.

Note: Candidates who possess the preferred qualifications and experience in healthcare training and certification will be given strong consideration. This additional expertise will enrich the educational experience for students and enhance their readiness for careers in the healthcare field.
