Triumph Cabling Systems is Hiring a Cabling and Fiber Optic Technician Near Houston, TX

Triumph Cabling Systems is a family owned low voltage cabling and underground contractor located in Houston, Texas.

We are seeking experienced Technicians/Installers skilled in all aspects of low voltage cabling including voice, data, and fiber optic to join our team. At least 1 year of proven experience as a Lead Technician preferred.

We are hiring for two positions:

1. Fiber Splicing Field Technician

  • Analyze and troubleshoot basic technical problems or issues
  • Reviews, interpret and work with various fiber cut sheets, drawings, blueprints and testing documents
  • Makes fusion splicing rearrangements on existing facilities in buried, underground, aerial and building work locations
  • Able to troubleshoot and repair problems utilizing optical test equipment such as OTDR, Fiber Identifier, Power Meter and Fiber Scope
  • Splicing Technician should be able to prep fiber optic cables into new enclosures, splice trays and fusion splice optic fiber cable ranging from single fiber to large count cables including performing mid entries, or ring cut when needed
  • Accurately test fiber (multimode and single mode) cables to required certification
  • Installation of pulling cable, fire stopping and pre-termination including organizing, forming, dressing and labeling cables to industry standards
  • Determine closet and equipment layouts and install closet hardware including backboards, racks, patch panels and fiber enclosures

2. Structured Cabling Field Technician

  • Analyze and troubleshoot basic technical problems or issues
  • Ability to build out closets and dress bundles of cables in closet.
  • Reviews, interpret and work with various cut sheets, drawings, blueprints and testing documents
  • Accurately test copper cables to required certification
  • Physically install Cat3, Cat 5, Cat 5e, Cat 6 and Cat 6A Structured Cable Distribution Systems
  • Installation of outlets, pulling cable, fire stopping and pre-termination including organizing, forming, dressing and labeling cables to industry standards
  • Terminate, assemble and install 8-pin modular connectors and coaxial connectors
  • Test, diagnose and correct copper problems
  • Maintain and reference industry standards including ANSI,EIA/TIA and local and Low Voltage Code
  • Determine closet and equipment layouts and install closet hardware including backboards, connecting blocks, racks and patch panels

Qualifications:

  • Ability to drive to office and job sites, also have a valid driver's license
  • Able to pass drug screening and background check
  • Possess a high level of independent judgment within established procedures
  • 1 year of experience as a Lead Technician preferred.
  • BICSI certified is a PLUS
  • Ability to read, review, interpret and understand technical documents.
  • Ability to work varying shifts and hours including: possible mandatory overtime, weekends, nights and holidays
  • Working knowledge of using hand and power tools
  • Ability to work respectively with others and work independently
  • Ability to complete designated amount of work in a specified time frame (quality jobs per day), adjusting work assignments or schedules to meet changing work-related priorities or demands
  • Ability to climb and work at elevations from (ladders, poles, lift trucks) exceeding 18 feet
  • Ability to work in confined spaces (attics, crawl spaces, utility holes)
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical activities including, but not limited to: lifting objects weighing over 100 pounds
  • Ability to perform job activities outdoors in different weather conditions (extreme cold and/or heat, inclement weather)
  • When working aloft, employee's weight and tools combined may not exceed the weight limit as specified by the manufacturer (Typically 300lbs in Bucket Boom Lift and Ladders)
  • Must have reliable transportation
