Triton Medical Robotics is Hiring a Senior/Staff Deep Learning Engineer Near Burlingame, CA

Triton Medical Robotics, a division of Neptune Medical, is an innovative, venture capital funded medical device startup headquartered in Burlingame, CA. TITLE: Senior/Staff Deep Learning Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY: 

We are seeking a skilled Deep Learning Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role will be pivotal in developing and applying deep learning models to analyze and interpret complex data from our medical robots. You will be working with real-time video data and other multimodal inputs to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and safety of robotic-assisted medical interventions. Responsible for architecture, development, and test of algorithms for medical robotic applications.

The ideal candidate will act with passion and intensity in a medical device start-up that is fast paced and collaborative and display the ability to perform to the requirements outlined below. For the right person, this position will be a tremendously exciting and career-defining opportunity, making core contributions to a genuinely new type of medical robotic platform.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with senior leadership to develop our roadmap for deep learning applications in GI endoscopy. Work with multimodal data, including real-time video, to enhance robot precision and decision-making
  • Assess and develop innovative artificial intelligence solutions for integrating and enhancing medical video processing techniques, with a focus on real-time data analysis and visualization
  • Possess a strong foundation in traditional computer vision techniques, including image segmentation, feature detection, and optical flow, to support advanced video analysis and enhance deep learning frameworks
  • Design and implement high-performance, real-time video processing algorithms with optimization for GPU environments
  • Evaluate potential for SfM (structure from motion) approaches like visual odometry and SLAM)
  • Integrate available open-source models for rapid prototyping and determination of clinical value
  • Explore potential for large language models and generative AI in a clinical setting
  • Work with Vision team on AI-based image-quality enhancements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Deep Learning, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 5 years experience (or 3 year with M.S., or new Ph.D.)
  • Experience with AI/ML
  • Proficient in Python or C programming
  • Experience with numerical programming, preferably for science or engineering applications
  • Familiarity with state-of-the-art deep learning tools and libraries: PyTorch or TensorFlow, ONNX, TensorRT
  • Experience using Docker and other tools to manage complex software stacks
  • Familiarity with GPU programming and optimization (CUDA, OpenCL)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with real-time image processing with low latency
  • Experience with computer vision
  • Experience with SLAM

Triton Robotics is located in Burlingame, CA, near the Millbrae Caltrain and BART Station.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base salary for this role is between $180,000 and $240,000 depending on experience. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: education, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for equity, benefits and 401(K) with matching.
