Job Summary and Qualifications

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is an integral part of the healthcare team, delivering compassionate and high-quality patient-centered care. Under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN), the PCT performs various delegated basic patient care services and activities of daily living. They ensure a safe, clean, and organized patient care environment while adhering to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines.

What you will do in this role:

  • You will participate in implementing nursing care plans by providing direct and indirect patient care under the guidance of licensed nurses.
  • You will collect and document patient information such as vital signs, intake and output, and other relevant data throughout the care cycle.
  • You will assist patients with mobility, transfers, and activities of daily living, ensuring proper body mechanics and patient comfort.
  • You will provide non-medicated support care, assist with dressing changes, specimen collection, and preparation for surgical procedures.
  • You will ensure patient safety and respond promptly to patient needs and call lights, anticipating and addressing concerns proactively.
  • You will maintain clean and hazard-free patient rooms, assist with post-mortem care, and identify and report malfunctioning equipment.
  • You will perform clerical duties as needed, including chart assembly, filing, and answering phones.
  • You will serve as a Monitor/Telemetry Tech for the unit when required.
  • You will promote positive patient interactions, demonstrate empathy and effective communication skills, and advocate for patient-centered care.
  • You will actively participate as a member of the healthcare team, supporting colleagues and contributing to a professional work environment.
  • You will monitor and restock unit supplies, utilize charge systems for supplies and equipment, and contribute to the financial efficiency of the unit.
  • You will assist with the orientation of new personnel and serve as a positive role model for peers.
  • You will seek opportunities to enhance patient experience and contribute to the growth and excellence of the organization.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred
  • Completion of a CNA, LNA, or EMT Training Program preferred
  • 1 years of experience in an acute care setting preferred
