We are seeking a motivated Warehouse Supervisor to join our business.

Responsibilities:

In this key role, the warehouse Supervisor is responsible for all distribution processes at Intsel Steel, including but not limited to the following activities: Shipping, Re-stocking, Cycle Counting, Picking, Packaging, Returns. This position will have the authority and responsibility to manage warehouse employees, process handling and actions of employees. The warehouse Supervisor will be responsible for meeting or exceeding established objectives and key performance measures such as productivity, quality and on time shipments to customers, as well as providing leadership and development to all Intsel Steel warehouse personnel.

General

  • Responsible for safety, housekeeping, scheduling, team morale, and employee accountability for all direct reports within the warehouse. In addition, the Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for leading by example and maintaining a positive work environment in which all team members are treated equally.

  • Maintains receiving, Shipping, Inventory Control and Production Work Cells by installing, coordinating, and enforcing departmental programs and Operational Work Instructions and procedures.
  • Minimizes costs, O/T, scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and installing financial checks and balances.
  • Assures Sales Orders are issued, picked, processed, shipped and invoiced in a timely fashion.
  • Develops Vendor Evaluation criteria and regularly reviews Vendors for adherence.
  • Maintains warehouse & logistics operations, equipment, capacities and capabilities by Production Planning and Measurement, routine inspection and repair of in-house machinery and equipment, and the regular review of warehouse layout and throughput.
  • Interacts with various customers, vendors, and service providers in the best interest of the company.

Safety

  • Verify all near misses identified are documented and submitted to management for processing.
  • Ensure warehouse employees adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
  • Recruits, Interviews, orients, plans, and trains staff as well as monitors and addresses employee performance.
  • Monitor proper material handling techniques and proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Ensure all Bay Leaders always maintain their respective bays and hold them accountable.
  • Perform daily shift startup meetings with all warehouse members as needed.
  • Walk the warehouse bays periodically throughout the day to ensure Bay Leads, and all direct reports, are adhering to the daily objectives.
  • Identify bottlenecks as they arise throughout the day and initiate necessary actions to maintain the flow of the warehouse.
  • Assist management to monitor the efficiency and accuracy of employees pulling material, off-loading inbound, pulling production, building loads, and preparing will calls in a timely fashion.
  • Assist management to develop Bay Leads and new team members by communicating job expectations, coaching, training, counseling and monitoring performance.
  • Coordinate and execute the planning, problem resolution, shift pass downs and overall warehouse performance with the second shift Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Establish and maintain a positive team environment across all shifts by working with other shift Warehouse Mangers.
  • Provide input to management during employee evaluations and corrective actions.
  • Initiate/document formal corrective actions related to employee performance and safety violations.
  • Accept overall warehouse accountability and ownership.
  • Confirm validity of all back orders identified by your shift and ensure inventory adjustments are communicated with Inventory Control.
  • Attend periodic meetings with management and provide feedback related to the warehouse performance.
  • Act as Bay Lead backup when necessary to cover absences.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 10 years Equivalent Work experience in a Service Center
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience
  • Excellent Verbal communication skills are a must.
  • Solid Computer, MS OFFICE Skills
  • Strong Organization skills and follow up skills are very practical.
  • Experience in Budget development and management is a plus.
